Peeled, pitted and cut up white peaches and yellow peaches from our miserable trees. Got about 2 gallons of peach pieces, which will be processed tomorrow. I don't have any clear jel, nor did anyone within 1 hour of here carry it, so it'll be plain ole' sugared peaches for now. Oh, and I even picked up the ones off the ground, and trimmed them thoroughly.

On a bikeride last weekend, I noticed a beaut of an apple tree by the side of the road. Today the kids and I biked back there and got almost 1 bushel of absolutely beautiful apples! They are not perfect, but they are pretty amazingly good for what appears to be an untouched tree.

I still use my old pull-behind all terrain stroller from when the kids were little, but these days it does berry and apple hauling :) I am tickled silly!

I am feeding whey from cheesemaking to the pigs, and picking up acorns for them, too. They are not finishing their feed, so I am cutting it back. This is amazing! I think the rain brought up some worms, as they are going nuts plowing up their pasture and are not really hungry when I go feed them. They run up to me, drink up the whey, look at the food and look back at my like, "This is it? Can't you do any better?"

I make peach sauce with the not so nice peaches. Great with yogurt, on ice cream and pancakes.

I work in a Cafe'. Had to go put on a lunch today for the staff. I was able to bring home leftovers. I pulled the wraps apart. I kept the turkey and ham. (about 2lbs) and gave the rest of the stuff to the chickens. Also got pasta salad and desserts.

I've been trying real hard to save all Summer by planting veggies, clipping coupons only buying on sale, I bought a bolt of fabric for 42.00 and have been making new pants for work, I usually spend about that much for two pair and 20 yards can make me about 10 if I watch how I'm cutting. A couple weeks ago I used coupons and sales and saved more than I ended up spending on groceries, and it just keeps getting harder to make the paycheck stretch far enough.:(

We cancelled Comcast and got Directv for a much lower price. We also were referred by a friend which saved us and our friend an additional $100 each. SO just cannot live without his tv.

I canned our green beans, made a peach cobbler using some of the last of the peaches, dehydrated more plums in the car, didn't give in to the urge to go to the store for some red meat and used what we had in the house to make dinner instead.

Researched canine skin infection online, so I could find out what I can do for our dog without having to go back to the vet. Treated our dog with aloe vera and tea tree oil.

Fed all produce scraps and peeling to the goats.

All scraps to the chickens, as usual.

Foraged elderberries on bikeride this week. Got about 4 gallons (stems included :p).

Foraged windfall and good apples from parents-in-law's apple tree. Turning into sauce and other goodies.

Took my wormy, wilting carrots, trimmed them up, cooked and pureed them and turned them into carrot-goat's milk-oat soap, about $80 worth.

Took less-than-perfect cucumbers, pureed them and turned them into cucumber-aloe vera-mint soap, about $100 worth (IF people buy it!)

Went to DD's and picked blackberry vines and weeds and trimmed her fruit trees. I cleaned up her yard a bit and got feed for the goats for today. I won't have to walk them in our weeds and they won't need extra alfalfa. And best of all, they love it and DD loves it too.

Traded our vegies for loose green hay and apples from the neighbor. We always trade stuff ;)

After donating some (A LOT) of stuff at Goodwill, I realized a few things on the list might be inside. I got (new) flour-sack-style dish towels for $1 each - cheaper than any I've seen before and I didn't have to buy a big pack - just as many as I would actually use. I also needed red yarn for the heirloom quilt project I'm working on. I found it for about $3 under retail and now I'm knitting socks with the extras. (I haven't bought new socks in more than a year and I'm wanting some nice homemade socks for winter!)
