I love homemade socks!! It's been years since I made some.

We went to the dollar store to get some much needed sunglasses. I always loose mine or break them, so why spend more than $1 on a pair. I'll misplace these just as easily as a more expensive pair  We also picked up a few other items that we needed. Only got just one unneccessary item each. It was fun.

Canned more beans today, made meals using what was in the house, bathed the dog in epsom salts and put aloe vera on her skin. Put a bag of freezer burned store bought chicken in the crockpot for making dog food. This is part of my effort to heal her skin. Tomorrow I'll add grated carrots and squash, mash it all up and put it in jars.

We purchased peaches and pears for only $20/bushel. The pears were incredible, and I just canned up 29 quarts last night, plus had quite a bit leftover for fresh eating and a cake. The pears cost less than $0.65/quart!

I was in desparate need of a haircut. I did it myself this morning. I can't tell the difference between it and having it done professionally! (Except it is EXACTLY the way I want it, )

Saved $16, plus gas money, and about 2 hours.

A pitch fork 2 bucks, a nice big black heavy plastic water dish for 3 bucks, and the best deal a 17cubic ft upright freezer for 100 bucks,it is in great condition, been looking for another freezer as butchering season is almost here, I can now cross that off my list of things needed.:ya

Way to go, tortoise! I've been doing that for about a year; figured, what the heck, I surely couldn't mess it up any more than the hairdresser who had been cutting it. I always ended up trimming chunks she'd missed for the next two weeks anyway. I save $20 a pop, and get my hair trimmed just as often as I want, rather than waiting until it drives me nuts to get it cut.

Bought coffee in bulk for the first time and repackaged in 1/2 lb packs using my (new to me) vacuum sealer. Also got the ball canning book on clearance at the local grocery.

Answered a craigslist ad and got TWO brand-new one-gallon chick waterers, the plastic kind for $5! :weee For both, not each! Brand new!!! And only a couple of miles from my house....most of the "good stuff" I find is an hour away. Woohoo! The lady had mistakenly purchased them for her ducklings and then discovered that they couldn't get their big ol' beaks into the tray to drink. I needed new ones in time for my chicks in about a week. Both my old ones sprung leaks and I didn't feel like repairing them again. It is time to retire them.

You did luck out Free!!!

I went to the goodwill outlet for the first time in many months. We are out of pint canning jars and I really prefer to do our canning in that size jar. It had been a good source for me in the past. There weren't any.
I did come home with a perfectly good carry-on suitcase to use on my upcoming trip to NY.
11 skeins of organic cotton!!!! the price was still on them they were marked at $7.95 each :ep
a rubbermaid shelving unit that holds tools. SO thinks it would make a good cleaning/butchering station. It has slots for tools and a tray on the top shelf.
I found the rubbermaid thingy online. Here it is: http://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-18-Inch-Storage-Station-5A4300BLARD/dp/B000256MSW/ref=pd_sim_k_1 They charged me $2.00 for this
A craftsy kit for the niece (we missed her birthday)
1 canning jar
a bunch of little ceramic dishes good for feeding critters
a small pretty metal bucket to replace my compost bucket that fell apart earlier this year.
I paid $7 for the lot. :weee
