dragonlaurel, what a great deal.

I stayed home for the most part. Picked more tomatoes to make more tomato sauce, picked dry beans, luffa and popcorn. We might be getting rain later this week, so I am trying to get everything harvested that won't do well if it gets rained on. We have a lot of sweet conr still on the stalks too. But they still need more time. But I'll pick them the day before they predict the rain. They make good chicken food once they are dry. Soon our house will be looking like a storage barn. We cannot leave anything in the porch or garage, because the rats will get it. :he
So annoying!!

DD also gave me more canned dog food, that she received from her step-sister-in-law. She has way more than she can use for her dog. And since I made special dogfood for her other dog when he had cancer, she is paying me back. :D
I was really happy with the shopping today. Got some lined pants since winter will be starting. Last winter I had sweatpants or cold legs. This time I will be more prepared.
What kinds of beans did you grow? I tried growing luffa before. Planted them at the base of a palm tree they could climb. I think the tree took all the water. Oh well. Good luck with the rain.
My sister lives in a neighborhood that gets rats like that too. It's a pain in the @$$.

DH got quotes for health insurance for himself and DD, found that we could save about $400/month if we don't get family insurance from my employer (who pays for mine) and insure them separately. Go figure.YourLinkGoesHere

Taking a couple days off of work to can some pepper relish and make some other gifts for Christmas.

Wow, chipmunk! That's an area of savings that a person sometimes forgets about. $400/month is huge!

Just doing the usual to save $ today--Making all our food, most of it from the garden or farm. Burning wood instead of LP. Kinda boring...

Made a donation at Goodwill today.

I walked out and didn't spend a penny.

That's like the 3rd time in 2 weeks. What's wrong with me?

I watched the Freecycle site this week and managed to score:a Fashion Mate Singer sewing machine(works great!),a old school push mower with blades like my Grandma had(who needs a gym?)and 4 Old Navy hoodies --arranged to pick them all up on the same day to avoid wasting gas. Then stopped at Goodwill and got a Snackmaster Jr dehydrator for two dollars. ;)

Contacted my insurance company to see if they covered the water damage in my bathroom. They sent someone out to inspect today and their adjuster will do a seperate inspection next tuesday. That's when I'll find out if it is covered. The indications so far are that it is. Keep your fingers crossed.

Talked with my credit card company about a past due fee they charged. I have automatic payments scheduled and they are for more than the minimum. Turns out they changed their terms and upped the minimum to more than I had scheduled. So I complained that they didn't notify me properly and they gave me credit for the past due fee and make a note on my account, so I wouldn't be penalized for the "past due".

Then I contacted the contractor who is supposed to be hooking me up to the city sewer to let him know that the proposal includes something that is not needed, he should be calling me back early next week also.

I picked as much dried popcorn as I could carry, late this afternoon. I husked a bunch that I had picked two days ago. I am glad I did, since it was pretty moist and the corn wwas not drying poperly. I let it sit in the sun today, but brought it back inside for the night.

I also bought a 15 lb bag of catfood for our 2 cats, I had been buying a smaller bag and had to go and buy one about every ten days or so. The big bag was cheaper per pound and I will be making fewer trips to the feedstore. SO had bought a different and more expensive kind at another store earlier this week and both cats got the runs from it. So we'll be taking that one back and asking for a refund. I had even mixed the new kind with the old for my kitty and he still got sick. He is not usually that sensitive to food changes.

I packaged up the apples I dehydrated overnight and still need to label the tomatoe sauce I canned yesterday.
Now I am looking forward to sitting in front of the tube for a while shelling beans.

Ran to Winco for eggs, checked the meat case...five pound chubs of 7% fat ground beef, were $17. Expire today, got all four chubs for $2.98 each. 20 pounds of extra lean ground beef for 60 cents a pound.
