I've never cooked oxtails. Don't think i"ve noticed them in the stores either.

Winco carries them here and occasionally the Fred Meyer. The Costco Business Center has the best, though.

I grew up eating soup from them. We didn't exactly have a lot of money. Hubby hadn't even known it was a thing until I made some when we lived in Virginia Beach. He really liked it.

He can be picky. His family had money when he was growing up so there is a lot that he doesn't like since he wasn't introduced to the taste as a kid. They had restaurant prepared stuff a lot. He is willing to try things, though, and likes a lot of them. His younger brother isn't so open. Sent some salmon jerky/salmon candy one year from Costco. He thought everyone up here was weirdos for eating that.

oxtails weren't a thing for us ever. tongue i think Mom did once and never again. if it was complicated she doesn't want to mess with it. she also had to deal with wild game from time to time, but that wasn't too often and after Mom and Dad divorced that wasn't ever an issue again. i think now oxtails are pretty expensive, but i've not looked. i would like some lamb once in a while but that's a big no for Mom too she doesn't like it at all.

for me i would try things once but generally fishy things don't often agree with my tastebuds, but i can eat tuna and sardines ok and even canned mackerel, pickled herring in small amounts. a definite no on fish roe though of any kind. when i used to fish i got really spoiled by being able to eat fresh trout caught from really clean streams and so not much else compared to that very well. cleaning fish wasn't my favorite thing to do but i could do it. Mom refused to do it once she was old enough to say no as her older relatives would make her clean them. now it's a strictly no-eyeball house.
