Didn't you learn History or do you just have a short memory?
Big words, from someone who thinks Saddat was the Iraqi President who invaded Kewit.

Also...did you really use the word "stold?" Really?

Yikes.

I wondered when I would run across the Monsanto bashers that were sure to be hiding out on this board well I found you.
Against my better judgement, I have to ask what you were thinking when you read the op? Did you really think it was all warm and fuzzy towards monsanto? Seems to me you just want to start trouble...

This is retorical... No need to respond.

What the heck is GMO corn doing growing in far off fields in Mexico, where there are no Monsanto fields for hundreds of miles?
Well Monsanto sent dried eatting corn down to mexico so they could make corn tortias with them. During a drought. I watched it on a video some where on the net. And the president of mexico was on there talking about. If a mexican farmer gets a bag of corn kernals. They do what is tradition. They alway save some for growing and some for eatting. To a mexican there is no difference between seed corn and eatting corn.

I may not have stated it word for word.. But the GMO corn is now invading Mexico.

I guess mexico has now outlawed seeds from america..

Sorry for misspellings.

~gm, I cant thank you enough for reminding me why I buy ONLY organic to ensure I get no GMO's I can't thank you enough for fueling my desire to contact those in charge and let them know my feelings on biodiversity , hybrids and GMO's and once again.. thanks for reminding me why folks who only see the picture for themselves and ignore the major impact on the rest of the world are not welcome in my home. again.. thanks! :)

wow. i miss all the fun while i'm at work!!

i don't mind the concept of gmo. i'm a big sci fi geek and can't help but think if we aren't willing to trim the population down to manageable numbers we'd better find ways to grow more food.

my issue with monsanto is that monsanto is evil. :somad

i'm sure some day we'll all be living off algae as we starve ourselves out with overpopulation! :gig

this might be a surprise to some people... but it is possible to disagree with an opinion without being a jerk about it.

Peons??

Good gravy!

And really, Monsanto does 'enslave' people into their regimen. Both sides of my family have been farming for many many years. Generation after generation.

My dad - who grows Monsanto corn AND soy beans has been in an agriculture co-op since the 80's and has extensive shares in their programs. So do my uncles, and so many other farmers in the area. They all grow Monsanto. Many of these co-ops have been the basis and test subjects for Monsanto and similar agendas. Why? It starts out cheaper. Then farmers see a better outcome from it, because, as we know, it is unnatural. A better crop means less pesticides, fertilizers, and irrigation needed. It also means more lbs of bushels to turn in. They feel they are saving money this way. Because of this there is an increase and demand in these seeds. Monsanto has wiggled and weaved their way into everyone's pocket that many cannot afford to not comply.

Ever drive by a field and see the different signs next to different rows? Drive by advertising aimed at other farmers. Monsanto vs. soandso vs. himandher.

And many are like my dad, they are so cheap that they won't pass it up, they see no reason not to buy Monsanto. Co-ops push for it, fertilizing companies push for it, equipment suppliers push for it, agri-college courses push for it, even agricultural testing facilities push for Monsanto. So many don't see the outcome that it can and will have. Monsanto doesn't care about putting food on the table, a person's health and well-being, or any of it, unless they are making money.

If you were to try explaining this to my dad and so many other farmers, old and young, they wouldn't understand, or believe any of it. They would scoff and walk away, because what they are doing is their life.
