It all came to a head tonight.....

I have photos of a beautiful double rainbow from tonight. The hues of the primary rainbow were the most vivid that I ever remember. Of course, technology snafu's are currently preventing me from uploading the pix here (I will continue to try, though). :he

I've been reading a number of threads here lately, and wow, I feel really "down". I realize that there is a lot of frustration, fear, and anger out there with the current state of affairs. I just don't know what to say.

For my religious friends, here you go. For the non-religious folks here, please just humor me with my posting this.

Peace, everyone.

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

Thanks Jamie, and :hugs

I often feel the same way when I spend too much time here. As with all things in life, balance is the key. There is positive and negative all around us, and it behooves each of us to seek joy and peace for our own sanity.

Sounds like you need to take a break from the Talking Heads. They can depress anybody, regardless where you find yourself on the political spectrum.

Here's a positive little ditty by my favorite philosopher...

========================================

Listen to the MUSTN'TS, child
Listen to the DON'TS
Listen to the SHOULDN'TS
The IMPOSSIBLES, the WON'TS
Listen to the NEVER HAVES
Then listen close to me--
Anything can happen, child,
ANYTHING can be.

Sorry you're "down" from the postings on here. I kinda was too until I saw this really ridiculous blog on FB and I posted in the Games and Jokes section. You should go over and see it. It'll make ya laugh :D It's too ridiculously stupid not to laugh at it! A bit of bad language though :/ Still funny :P

:hugs to ya!

I saw that earlier on FB today. :thumbsup

I don't think anyone is trying to be a downer, or cause anyone else to feel down. But the State of the Union does bear discussing. I know this isn't a political forum, and 99% of threads have nothing whatsoever to do with politics, but some (well, many!) SS topics are being affected and/or influenced by our government and/or politics in general.

BTW... I think there are a lot of things we can change. All it takes is courage. :D

You know, I felt the same way sometimes during the last administration. I thought the country was going to hell in a handbasket on a fast track.

Then, about 2/3 through that 8 years, I stopped listening to so many talking heads and watching the 24/7 news channels. And remembered, this is America. We are Americans. While we disagree on many things in many ways, we still hold that in common.

So, buck up, people. If I could survive the last administration, you can survive this one.

Everything is going to be just fine.

:)

When I get stressed about the country being destroyed, I listen to some inspirational music. Here is a great one....
"I watch it all change,
take the news of the day
and throw it away.
Time will kill all the pain,
faith will cure the decay
of all this blind ambition;
the greed brings us together.
Stay strong, stay true, be brave - it all comes down to you.

Tried to just let it go
know that justice moves slow
but it comes in the end
Rise the guilty will fall
stay they can't take it all
they want the unimportance
it's love they leave behind
Stand up, stay true, be hard - the future looks to you

Every second you throw away
Every minute of every day
Don't get caught in a myriad
Because life won't wait for you
No, life won't wait for you, my friend.

I'm watching the change
through who will carry the flame
it all feels very strange.
Dreams than mean can be good
faith - to live as we should
and know we're all connected
we give ourselves the power
Stay strong stay true be brave - it all comes down to you

Every day that you wait you're falling faster
No sleight of hand, no twist of fate, no ever after
When it's gone - it's gone, afight to the bitter end
Life won't wait for you
No, life won't wait for you, my friend."
