Woke this morning to solid ice everywhere. We're at 43F right now, 35F with the wind chill. The flock is enjoying the time outside. The forecast calls for Christmas Day SNOW. :)

Let's hope we wake up to at least 4 in. of crystal, white wonder and a golden day! It looks cloudy here but our temps are supposed to be in the 50s! :p

In the 40's. Covered in ice this morning too!! My big huge van slid right out of my driveway and thankfully stopped before going into the ditch on the opposite side of the road. Thankfully no one was coming. Then I was turned the wrong way so I had to go down to the neighbors driveway and turn around since his driveway did not have all of the ice on it or in front of it.

YaY :weee We are getting a snow storm. Started yesterday and is still snowing yhis am.
You may wonder why that makes me happy at this point. Well it has a tendency to NOT snow when it is really really cold out. So if it is snowing then that means our temps have come up!!

I am really sorry I was wishing all the cold away. It sounds like it went to everyone else areas. :(
Lupinfarm, You should get some triple antibiotic ointment or Vaseline for the combs. White is the precursor to frostbite.

I have started rubbing triple anti biotic ointment in now. The heat lamps are working wonders on the combs of the roosters.

I vaselined them the other day. They all look way better, but I don't think it's frostbite as the weather really isn't cold enough, their coop is a good 8 degrees warmer inside, and they haven't gotten wet either.

We're going to vaseline them ever few days just to be safe though, it doesn't hurt! It's 5 + in the coop today! :D:D

Our weather was beautiful today....blue sky, sun and 45-ish! No snow but the next best thing...sunshine! Every star is sparkling tonight and its so very quiet here without the usual big trucks rolling through the night. Everyone is home where they should be and now I have my "Silent Night". :) Am going to bundle up and go sit out to commune with God, the stars, the dogs..... :D
