Punkins' world....SUNSHINE, seeds and no more drought!

Oh Dace, thank you! That's the best laugh I've had all day. :gig It's an attachment to the tractor that cuts down weeds and stuff in fields. http://www.bushhogparts.com/featured%20item/12715cutter.htm Kind of like a heavy duty finishing mower. This isn't ours exactly, but it will give you an...

Ever tried Spiced Pears? I think the recipe is in the Ball Blue Book. They are yummy over waffles or pancakes.

Punkins' world....SUNSHINE, seeds and no more drought!

This morning was 32 and we had light frost. The sun is glorious and the air is crisp and cool. The high was around 62. My dad and I finally got 2 of the 4 rows of sweet taters dug today. We have had so much rain that they stayed in the ground much longer than he wanted. We dug up some that...

Canning - Can I use a towel instead of a wire rack?

Same thing happened to my Dad. He lost the rack for one of his canners a long time ago. He's used a towel ever since with no problems.

Kind of obvious - Hang out your clothes

I've been waiting for a pretty 2-3 day stretch so I can hang out quilts, sheets and bedspreads. It's supposed to be nice through Wednesday. It's 33 now, so I'm going to wait a couple more hours.

    HEAT-HEAT--Ugh!

It's cold and windy today, supposed to get down to the upper 30s tonight. The temp inside the house is 64. I'm holding out as long as I can before turning the heat pump on. Besides, it's supposed to be warmer Monday. Eeek! Just checked the ten day forcast. In the low to mid 30's for the next...

Punkins' world....SUNSHINE, seeds and no more drought!

:weee No racing tonight!! Not that I don't enjoy watching DS race, but it's stinking cold here. I'd had to have worn longjohns, wool socks, earmuffs, gloves, turtle neck, hoodie and a big jacket. It probably will be around 40 and windy at race time. I spent most of the morning getting out the...

FarmerDenise's journal - full on harvest time = busy, busy, busy

FD, I have a friend who is in a similar situation. She has been married for 19 years. She said it's never really been a loving marraige. In their time together, she said they have never spent a Sunday afternoon with each other. He likes to golf. Earlier this year, her DH had a fit of rage...

Punkins' world....SUNSHINE, seeds and no more drought!

We have about 3 corn mazes less than an hour drive from the house. The Mayfield Corn Maze is really spectacular. It is layed out by airial mapping with a particular theme. The local paper usually posts an airial pic of it, but I've not seen it yet. And, you're right - the boys are way more into...

Punkins' world....SUNSHINE, seeds and no more drought!

It's still dark at 7:30. I hate it when the days get shorter! But, I've got to get those clothes on the line. With all the rain lately, the dryer has been used way too much. It's about 46 here now, and the wind is supposed to be 15-20 mph and gusty. At least that should dry them. Yesterday, I...
