Didn't mean to kill the thread. Would love to visit Washington and Oregon for all the local produce. Saw a food show about some awesomely daring and talented chefs in Alaska.
Same problem here. I think we are going to build chicken tractors and put the girls to work between the rows. When we can afford it I have a movable electric fence in mind.
Was a personal chef, anything from 2 wks of meals in your fridge and freezer to dinner parties. The economy tanked where I was and lost my ability to drive at night. I so loved it but now I am my husbands personal chef and make all his meals for over the road. Still love to cook, to learn and to...
If money were no object I would love to eat my way through China, Mexico street stalls and rural Italy. Alas all my vacations center on food. Kinda realistic though not in this economy, I would love to revisit New Orleans and could spend a week eating at dim sum houses in San Francisco. Used to...
I won't rant and rave because you all have made good points. A very helpful site (at least for me) has been the Center for Food Safety. You can at least be heard as there are action calls to send to your government officials. They were successful in shooting down the large scale planting of GMO...
I have only watched some of the series, I think my favorite contrast was the homeless man and in another episode the pet store. OK dog lovers don't hate me but their amazement over the clothes and designer foods was compelling.
I am working today on a recipe that combines lentils, squash and walnuts with onion and garlic and curry powder. You can play with the amounts. I made it once before and it was very good but not the most attractive looking.
Home made on the grill with home made mayo, home made mustard and thick slice of onion, in summer with mayo lettuce and tomato from the garden. Whole wheat buns always. And salt.
This is pretty funny but this post reminded me of the year my daughter (37 now) wanted a Barbie house for Christmas. A cardboard box and an entire set of furniture made of strofoam blocks, cut painted covered in fabric. She still says it was the best present. Just throwing it out there.
I bought some at the feed store in a wild bird mix. The chickens loved it so much that I planted some of the seed. Got three crops in one summer, plus I still put some leftover in their scratch. Definitely will repeat that next spring.
