You could try gumdrop bushes. They are hardy to zone 4. Unfortunately the ones sold in stores are all seedless variety. No one is ever willing to share starts.

i've tried grafting but the tape doesn't stick well enough and then once you lick your fingers you just keep on going and then before you know it your graft subjects are gone in the tummy too. the hazards of the work... i'm sure OSHA and health departments would not approve of licking fingers or eating supplies...
