IT Crowd is awesome. My sister got the DVDs from Netflix on a whim and she has been telling everyone how funny it is. I trusted her so just bought the DVDs.

I laugh so darn hard at that show.

I am like what you would get if you took a child of Roy and Jen and had it raised by Noel.

Abi, for me mostly migrant worker. One R(eduction) I(n) F(orce), two get out of Dodge a few months before the RIFs it. Couldn't quite get the timing of the severance pay and the start of the new job timed out right, taking the new job right away.

Two more real helpdesk stories.
1. My laptop e-mail application died. Called the support line, the initial canned response out of the first responder is you need to send an e-mail to the support team e-mail address, why haven't you done that? (honest and for true). He actually had to go through like 8 questions before I finally asked if this would go quicker if I said I had dropped my laptop down the stairwell accidentally. Golly gee, I had a new laptop that afternoon. The SLA for hot-swap replacement was 6 hours, the application fix was 48 hours.

2. I had to call support for something one evening that I knew was supported by a call center in India. A little internet research and I determined they were in Mombai. When I got "George" on the phone, he was filling the "waiting for system response" time with idle questions about the current weather in Ohio and how nice it had been that day. I asked him if he had been caught in the rain at lunchtime in Mombai (in the location I had looked up) up and he started rambling on about the stupid heat and rain. I wish I could have seen the expression on his face when he realized I played his own game with him. :)

I need a girl or gay boy. I do not know what to wear tomorrow. I have lived in Denver since Feb 2010 and I forgot to make any friends.

Fired or downsized? IT is the migrant work for white collar...
Both at various times. He's exactly the kind of guy who would not be able to resist a flip comment when someone did something dumb. He truly believes he's the "blond" who used white out on her computer monitor, or at least her equivalent. He has no trouble finding temp work and sometimes that will turn temporarily permanent. My mother worries about it more than he does.

Abi, what do you need to know about what to wear tomorrow? Don't know if a 47 year old frump like me can help but I'll give it a whirl. Or were you speaking of a more general "tomorrow"? Oh boy, am I beign to literal again? :idunno
