I don't think empathic is accurate is all. I can see what I would do in a situation, but I cannot imagine what someone else would do, in a personal way. I can see what they might do culturally though.
That is just about text book autism ;) - except for the last part.

I do think you are much more reflective than many people however. You seem to take time to really think most things through from several angles before just jumping in. What is the word for that? Hmm.

I think reflective is a great adjective for that.

I think the term "problem solving" would be more what you are going for when you were describing what you have instead of empathy.

From my personal experience with you, however, Abi, you seemed empathetic to ME and my situation. Sometimes it is good to discuss how others percieve you.....it may not be what you think. You do not think you are empathetic. I disagree.

But you want your resume to characterize you accurately so that when you are on the job you will be what they pictured (or more!).

Analytical.

So you think I might be autistic, huh? The state said I was too articulate to count. *scowls* Idiots. They also refused to give me resume help on account of not being mentally deficient enough.

SD, I can be empathetic with those enough like me that me in that situation is similar enough to them in that situation LOL. I think I'm too literal on the terminology. :hu

It is fun to see what people think of me :D

I'm sure you would feel empathy for the patients......

That is really what you are discussing on the resume. That doesn't mean you have empathy for every yo-yo that walks the earth. :gig

Not that I am REALLY into "labeling people" ...

We have a little saying at work, "When you have seen one autism spectrum person - you have seen exactly ONE autism spectrum person."

Every person is a special unique snowflake! That is why life is so freakin' FUN! :weee

Boy, is that ever true! I work with a handful of students from 4th grade through 21 years old. Not one of them would react the same way in a given situation despite the fact they are all on the spectrum. Except for the fact that that they are unable to see another's point of view. We do love our jobs for a reason, don't we FF? :D

Just make sure they aren't your own head injuries!! sorry....

I never would have guessed that I'd enjoy working with autistic students as much as I do. We barely even covered the subject way back when I was in college. And so little was understood. Now some of my most rewarding moments come from sessions with those students. And it's usually when I've learned something from them rather than taught them something!
