Or do they mean "list the jobs you put on your resume" ???

They are looking for gaps in your work history where you basically did nothing. Even if you are unemployed through no fault of your own, they're looking to see how you filled the void.

Once I had a 6 month gap of no work in my career field where I sold firewood and painted home interiors - I was an "independent contractor".

Yeah...I'm always an "independent contractor" or "self employed" for a while too. In other words...I did evrything I do every day anyway, and THAT is a JOB!

Well you can't tell them you went crazy....say...was doing volunteer work at a hospital in the psych ward. See....more EXPERIENCE! Your just more "experienced" Abi and therefore more qualified than anyone else for the job.

Honestly Abi..I would say something to the effect of I had been ill to the point of disabled and had to take time to get better.
