I read a rule that you never write you were sick or anything. But I'm not sure :( It's all very confusing.

I need a mathematical model for applications.

I understand circles. I can break a circle into all kinds of slices. So when I sew, it's very easy for me to design things into circles. Full circle skirts, round collars, etc. So I can apply a concept to more than one thing almost like I was generalizing, only it is not a generalization. It's a formula.

I need a job app formula :D So that the different questions can become the same question.

Here is my advice to you on this:

Do not lie on the application. But do not say anything negative about yourself either. Leave the blanks in time, don't list the months if there is no blank showing they want to see the month. Do not make up anything to put into the blanks, just put your positive things you already listed on your resume and submit it proudly, like every day was filled with importance. But if you make up stuff in the blanks that is untrue, you could be fired should it be discovered.

When/if you get an interview, you may be asked about blanks. Then in PERSON, not on paper, I'd have a polite fib about what you were doing, a little vague. "I was working towards having a little business of my own but the economy was working against me." If they say what kind of business, say, "sewing" or something else along those lines that would seem plausible to them later in your life when you get to know these people should you get this job. You don't want to live this fib forever. But make it something that you were doing for yourself so there would be no one to verify. If they asked why you did not mention it, say, "It did not relate to medicine so I did not feel it pertained." "I decided that type of work wasn't for me and it inspired me to pursue my interest in medicine." and turn the focus of the interview back to the subject at hand. Another thing you could say you were doing that time is some sort of "personal study" or "retreat." You will have a little more time to think up what to say about what you were doing, but do NOT put down the truth. Lie by omission.

You might never be called upon to explain those gaps, just be ready in case.

Do not write anything about your illness on the application, resume or cover EVER. Or anything negative about oneself or ones health.

I hope that helps you decide how to proceed.

Thanks SD!!

So I'll leave the blanks but be prepared to explain I was cooking professionally and learning to sew :)

I really was. Cooking was my room and board.

PERFECT! Using some version of the truth is the best choice.

***WARNING****

Denver Health has a psych profile.

I'll be posting the whole thing tonight asking for help. I don't comprehend most of the questions at all.

:D

Your stint at Dan & Kat's could easily be listed as personal chef or housekeeper.

How much weight did he lose and how much healthier was he when you lived with them???
