Thanks
My nephew's cousin just called me and wants to come get some of my big chicks. I have a friend who wants 2, I'll probably keep 1-2 so he can have the rest. I kind of hate to see them go, they are so colorful and pretty...and they are learning "here chicken" means I have good treats :D . I know they'll take care of them though, I just have to make sure they know about a secure run etc.

I will still go and get a couple of chicks from the feedstore for my broody... she worked so hard to get those eggs to hatching.

Oh, that must have made you so sad to see the drowned ones! I hate it when things like that happen! :hugs

There is nothing quite like a lifeless little chick to break your heart. :(

I did go and buy 2 chicks (for the broody hen, of course)... the feedstore had them labeled as Giant Cochins. We'll see. Of course, last night I put them under the hen and either they wandered out or she chased them out - they were wandering the chicken house this morning. I'll try again and won't even use a flashlight tonight... maybe I need to be a little more stealthy.
My garden looks like I am trying to start a sod farm with all the grass that is coming up in it. I still have to put a soaker hose, newspaper and mulch down by my tomatoes - guess I should go buy a soaker hose. I have peas to pick and a rabbit hutch to finish. But I am just exhausted. The last several days I have felt as weak as a new kitten from exhaustion. I am taking vitamins and drinking protein shakes for my surgeon / nutritionist so I would think I would feel better than I do? Also, I am beginning to wonder if I have damaged the rotator cuff in my right shoulder - it hurts constantly just a buzzing kind of pain.

Enough whining... I took a short nap after going to the lab this morning. They drew 13 tubes of blood, did an EKG and a chest x-ray. I guess I'll go check my peas and then at 4 I'm taking my newest rabbits (The dwarfs) to get gender verified by my vet and an estimate on neutering. Maybe I'll feel adventurous and go buy a hose as well.

Maybe

If I had a goat I could make my own cheese to go with this whine :D

Wow I really need to proofread my posts!! :p
No more possum stink, hopefully he learned his lesson and moved on.

I did pick peas, only got 2 little ziplocks full, but it was still fun. There are some left, hopefully they'll fill out before the plants dry up.

What a day of opposites!

Bathed Rags, here is the AFTER pic

Rio has been on a diet, took him to the vet and they bragged on how great he looks - and he "lost" UP to 111 lbs from 107!!

I pulled my back carrying Buford out this morning when he was stoned on his valium and barking to go outside. It hurts to do anything but lean back against a backrest in a chair, but I need to plant my last tomatoes and a couple of peppers.

Broody hen still won't take the 2 bought chicks, so now I have a box in my extra bathtub, again.

It is 83*, clear and breezy - and I am inside. What's wrong with this picture?

83 sounds so lovely. I would soak it up. We still haven't gotten into the 70s. We hit 60 though. Ray! :weee

It is 60 at night here already. ;)

I managed to pick some more peas, about a 1/2 gallon of blackberries and plant 2 tomato plants before my back quit on me. I suppose the best thing for it is rest... hopefully after I plant the last of my tomatoes and peppers I can chill out long enough for it to heal. But I really want to get those blackberries too.

My ex SIL's sister came over with her kids and took 3 of my 7wk old chicks. I feel pretty sure they got a roo in the mix, so I THINK that leaves me 3 more to deal with. Mr ON told me he has a lady who wants some, but I haven't heard from her in the last week or 2 so I hope she comes through for me - though she probably just wants pullets.

Along with my "rebel" squash, I have a bunch of sunflowers coming up around my compost pile. I also have what I think may be pumpkin vines over by my privacy fence (where I dumped the seeds of pumpkins I scraped out... felt weird giving those big ol things to the chickens).

Happy Easter everyone!

I had a horrible night last night with Buford. He barked constantly despite having almost a double dose of valium. Everytime I take him out he pees, but I figure he holds it 4-5 hours while I am at work, why can't he hold it here? So this morning I let him bark and I read. I finally gave in and went to check on him and he had peed his bed. Couldn't be mad at him, he tried to tell me.
I put him outside for some sunshine (too hot to leave him out by himself for long) and put his bed cover on to wash. My nephews (15yr and 13yr) came up and helped me get my rabbit cage set up. I put Bon Bon the black rabbit in the new cage and just set the dwarfs on top in their store bought cage. I gave them each a frozen water bottle since it is pretty warm, but I will still take them inside when I head to work... they aren't used to being out in the heat.

Had some of my English peas for dinner today... they are sooo good! I will have to plant a lot more a lot earlier next year though, they are already drying up.
