Morning! I love your chickie in the tree. For some reason it reminds me of a Christmas card.

I am overwhelmed with cuteness! the lady never called about the chicks so I still have 11 6-week old chicks with Pat in her little run. Broody hen hatched a 4th chick but flattened it, now she has the 3 out in the big run. They stay at one end and mind their own business - none of the others will go near them because Mama Yankee is very scary.
The dwarf rabbits are like mutant hamsters - just big ears. The brown one, Cheeto, is warming up pretty well... I guess figured out that the cage door opening equals treats. The black and white one -Oops until I think of another name- is insanely shy. When I hold her she flattens her ears so much they blend in with the fur on her back. So I carry her around with me as much as possible. Bon Bon - the black mutt rabbit is fabulous! I open the cage door and she comes to me, I carry her around or put her on a little leash and let her hop around outside eating grass. She will tackle you over a cabbage leaf! At night when I hold her she snuggles under my chin.

Today I have about 3 hours of "free" time and we are supposedly in for some very bad weather this evening. I don't want to plant seeds and then have them wash away (watch it not even rain). So I'll have to settle for adding straw to my potatoes and starting work on outside rabbit hutches.... though I think I will also build a frame for their current cages to stay inside - especially in the Florida heat.

Yesterday at work a friend was grinning at me real big. I asked her what was up and she said "I don't think I have ever seen you this happy and excited as when you talk about the surgery and working outside in your garden". I leaned in close and whispered "I think this is what hope feels like"

Oh my mercy....
Up at 6am to water the garden and do some hoeing (HOE, not ho), then off to my nephew's 2 baseball games. Home for a quick lunch and then garden time big time!
Planted:
- 3 rows of Mississippi Silverskin peas
- 4 rows of pinkeye purple hull peas
- 2 rows of golden queen corn
- 1 row of peaches and cream corn (then I just scattered a bunch lol)

Then when I thought I couldnt' move anymore, I helped me dad for an hour on building a rabbit hutch. We got the frame put together and the bottom wire on.

I still have clemson okra to plant. And some flower stuff. I don't know when or if my legs will ever work again though LOL.

Almost forgot - Rio my hard working farm dog ;) (he's still figuring out the 'hard working' part). He has the loyalty down to a science though.

It was awesome! and I left out the 2 rows of green beans! WOOT

Had a little adventure last night with Rio... I went down to feed the horses and didn't have my flashlight (around 1am). The barn has lights but before I could reach over to turn them on Rio went flying past me absolutely ROARING. I jumped and then hurried to flip the switch - he was taking on a big ol' possum! The stinking rat put up a big fight and Rio was sticking with him pretty good - but then all of a sudden the possum broke and ran, I called Rio off because I didn't want him out in the dark where I couldn't get to him. He was sorely disappointed. This morning the whole barn reeked of possum :sick

This morning after dropping Buford at the vet for a bath and check up, working out at the gym and making a feed run I picked blackberries!! YUM! Not many, I was too tired to fool with it much, but I'll be picking some everyday and maybe this weekend the pasture fenceline will be ready for some berry picking as well.
Then I went to the garden and picked a big bowl of peas. Not enough for a "mess" but there will be more in the next couple of days I imagine.

I need to take a vacation so I can stay home and play in the dirt!

Well 2 of my little chicks from my broody hen drowned in the big chickens water tub. I had a font set out for them in the chicken house, but apparently somebody scratched dirt into it and filled it up yesterday evening. So I made a trip to TSC and bought a big 3 gallon font. I hate it, but hopefully I can keep this last chick alive. I will probably go buy 1 or 2 chicks at my feedstore (as if I need anymore with 11 in the other pen!).

I have been running completely exhausted these last few days. I think I need to take a day off from horses, gardens, gyms and working until 1 am. Not sure how or when that might happen.
