I've been buying spray because I've never found a good recipe for anything homemade. But, I'd love to have something I could make that actually works.

We use a quart spray bottle with about a cup of ACV and a big squirt of citrus dish soap then fill with water. The whole "you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar" deal you know. :p

It will fade a dark horse in the sun and sometimes it sudses up in a hard rain, but it still worked pretty well for us. :)

good to know! Especially for my old girl.

We have been getting.... RAIN. At first it was just little sprinkles here and there, but last night it rained hard - not damaging hard, but steady and actually wetting the ground more than just surface. And guess what? Raining again! When it started I was at my folks house and went charging through the rain to make sure my lone chick (Tuffy aka Emmett) was ok. About halfway up the middle yard lightning struck so close I felt like I had brushed against a lightly charged electric fence! WOW.

I think I hear the 4 horsemen thundering our way again so I'm outta here. (YAY RAIN!)

Thunderheads are building up here!!! Supposed to get "drenching" rains today! Yeah! Temps are supposed to be back to low 90s tomorrow, in the normal range. Thank goodness. Hope you get a good amount of the wet stuff.

It is so muggy right now - instantly start sweating if I walk outside. So I'm indoors canning - with the A/C running full blast. Duh! Should have waited until later to fire up the canner.

ugh I can't imagine canning in this humidity... but actually today was beautiful - hot but you could breathe.

SO.... what in the world happened to my cucumbers? I am in my garden everyday and they have never been green, just went straight to orange. They have a really thick skin / white meat, then the middle is cuke seeds. I think they aren't ripe, I guess.... do orange cukes have really thick skin?
They smell and taste like cukes.

My little Tuff chick. If it's a roo (which I'm thinking) he'll be Emmett , if it's a hen she'll be Kelly - for Emmett Kelly JR, the hobo clown. Love this chick's little black beard! It's just a mutt chick - Poppy the white EE is the roo, Crazy Agnes the dark brahma is the hen

Did you or a neighbor plant pumpkins next to the cucs?
Cross pollination is the likely issue.

Nature does play some jokes on us, eh? I had something last year that was a cross between a zuke, a yellow squash, and a pumpkin. It had zero flavor. :sick

Worse come to worse, I'm sure the chickens would enjoy you slicing it open for them.

There was a "mystery" plant over on the compost pile, turns out it was another mutant pumpkin "thing".... on a zuke type bush but a small orange gourd that opened up to be like a pumpkin.

This is the "guts" of the cuke zombie.. can't really tell but the very inside is exactly like a cuke.
