This Nation as a whole may not be a Christian nation, but many of us who are a part of this Nation are Christians, and we deserve as much respect and religious freedom as the next person who screams for their rights to believe in something else or to believe in nothing at all.
Christians make up the majority. Since they make up the majority they tend to enjoy the majority rights. So since your belief has all the rights I don't see where statements like that come from. When Christian leaders speak about discrimination towards Christians it is because they are not allowed to make all the rules by which we live.

It comes from banning Christian crosses in school yet allowing hijabs. It comes from the assault on Christmas from so many fronts. It comes from the suppressing of anything Christian. This is coming from a non-Christian, who has been observing this assault for years now.

I know, right? I love the "we Christians are so oppressed" mantra you hear everywhere these days. Remember the "Merry Christmas" debacle? Righteous Christians boycotting and carrying signs because some checkout girls has the nerve to say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas. Goddess forbid we should all be included in a wish for a happy season.

I guess we see offense where we choose to see it. I am not offended when someone wishes me Merry Christmas, I understand that, to them, is a true wish. I respond with Happy Yule - my holiday. So what? Why should anyone be offended at that exchange?

Wait, wait, are you saying there is a school somewhere out there where kids cannot wear a cross to school but CAN wear another faith's religious symbol? (Hijab not exactly counting, as it is attire, not symbol, but, whatever)

I would really REALLY like to see a reference for that, please? (edited to clarify: or do you mean something different, and if so, how does what you're talking about qualify as oppression-of-Christians?)

Yes, I don't have the direct cite sitting in front of me, but it was in a newspaper article. It happens, Pat. Now you can spend hours scouring google to prove me wrong, that's fine. As I said, I am not a Christian, I am an observer.

There will always be oppression, there will always be majority rules, there will always be predjudice, there will always be racism. It will NEVER change---we are talking about humans with different cultures, lives, regions, etc. etc. Never will everyone agree, ever!

Keeping non-religious freedoms is the key. Then all can benefit.

The rest, the little stuff, is just that, little.

Key is total freedoms for everyone in this nation.

If we keep that basis, then if oppressed, etc. you can get a lawyer and sue and win. hey it ain't much, but remember one thing----people will not change.

we can nitpick every little oppression etc. out there-----it is mankind and we have traits that will forever be with us thru generations and generations.

just my thoughts.

Exactly. I focus on the sentiment. The funny thing is I have customers that tell me "Merry Christmas" like it is a dare or something! LOL I know they are trying make a statement, but really....do they even KNOW the history of Christmas???

It comes from banning Christian crosses in school yet allowing hijabs.
Great example of the group think I described earlier. One group can publicly display their religious symbols while another group has theirs repressed. If you focus on individual freedom, then it isn't a problem who wears what.

christians are not perfect and don't deserve "not to be bashed" by other religions.

I am catholic. My religion sure takes abuse. While so does others.

Who wants to be Muslim right now? They are under fire to the full extent.

every Muslim is considered a terrorist right now----while every Jew was considered an abomination to mankind not that long ago from a certain group.

Religion is not the problem.

it is mankind's every mouth. we speak stupid crap. simple as that.

we speak garbage. we allow "everyone's" freedoms to be for only a few and not others---just a bit, it won't hurt......

please people-----as long as we are different in any form---we are enemies to some extent. And enemies do not throw out hugs and kindness every minute of the day
