you can build underground houses above ground, but it would take some work and research to make sure to do it right. the more moisture you get the harder things become.

sorry you are in pain, sometimes it may just take a few weeks to adjust to the new activity level so i hope it is that and not worse to cope with.

It is most important that a nurse knows how to properly administer medicine to her patients. It is also very important that she knows how to help her employer pass the state audit when the time comes. For years I did both at the same time but it did damage my feet. I still know how to read orders and properly prepare the medicine but my feet really want to be relaxed while I do it. I remember exactly how my instructors preached against this but if I can’t sit down and pour and later run around and administer then all I am fit for is tending a bridge, whatever farming I can do and keeping my house…..maybe crocheting and sewing or something. Strangely my DON and ADON claims they pre-pour themselves. They told me this when they interviewed me. I think maybe the nurse who trained me was afraid to train me lay back. Maybe she only trains officially. I can teach a baby nurse the correct way. That’s not a problem. But my beat up days are over. Last time I was in a facility when state walked in, I was able to whisper to all the young nurses everything they needed to remember to do so we could pass without a 2nd visit and the med pass went great. I was watched administering an eye drop in a private room. I was asked about the other eye drops and I said I would come back in a few minutes for them and I would catch other residents meds in between drops. (You know….kill time). Auditor wanted to know why I didn’t just get it all done and I said well maybe another nurse might know another way to give drops but I assume we went to a different school or something. As far as I know I need to space the drops apart so I just keep popping in and out the room until I am finished. She seemed satisfied. The patient even agreed that I always do it that way. But I kept going to the young nurses asking if anyone had come to them or telling them lock your cart. Never forget to lock up. And wash y’all hands. And all the time let them see you sanitizing your hands. Tell you the truth I think I should be given a special office in the back of a hall with a coffee pot and a computer and then I can go visit a patient with his or her chart and we can just talk things over and I can talk to the aides about what they need help with and look at the medicine the nurses actually are giving and compare it to the order. They can call me the finder. I excell at finding it. I can fix as I find it without everyone losing their mind and then when state comes in we all ready. But otherwise I think I see a bridge in my future.

Now they say that nurses should not be interrupted when administering medications (to reduce errors) and some facilities use strategies like the nurse prepping medications works solo in a separate room, and then when giving medications might wear a vest or something to alert other staff to not interrupt. So you might find some hard evidence in favor of prepping medications while sitting!

I’m so sorry that you are having such pain issues. I think you may be right, get a job where you aren’t on your feet.

I don’t mind nursing as long as I am working with people who have my back and allow my accommodations but yeah I am up for an easier job with benefits and because of farming and prepping and a lifetime of frugality I suppose I can be part-time. And really a big part of my decision to go back to work is because DD needs some kind of income and loved her laundry position so much and having a working relationship with me. Everything is rather complicated.

I knew it was time to go in the kitchen. DH was complaining about how SIL had redesigned his mother’s kitchen and was losing all his stuff. I stepped in and he went out to ‘spread the love.’ That’s what we call feeding the livestock. Honestly he is a great chef but he needs an assistant to work around him and organize the kitchen behind him. I got the counter found and put the two head of cabbage from St Patrick parade in the crockpot for a casserole, picked up all the onions and potatoes. We have quite a mess of eggs so I went through them and picked out the small ones for boiling so all we’d have left are large. He came back in and I had coffee ready and two salads and the beginning of a side dish for tonight. He felt better and grabbed some venison from the freezer. Gotta work fast finish spreading the love at other locations before church.

DH and his imaginary friend have a new plan. They figured they have 5 pregnant potbelly pigs. So they thinking 10 piglets each, sell 40 at Tractor Supply when they 6 weeks old and so cute and we eat 10. I don’t know about this one. I told them if it doesn’t work we having a few slaughter days and putting those piglets in gallon size Ziplocks

They let ya'll sell animals there? People are always getting run off when they're trying to sell - or give away - critters around here.

Yeah they have some kind of regular planned sale at a few of the local Tractor Supplies. I forgot exactly what they call them. DH used to bring whatever barnyard hatches we had and sell everything.
This is the famous Trouble. Getting old. She gave us a scare a few days ago.
