Ha! A customer at the farmer's market was sporting those one Saturday. I had a good giggle with him :D

I have nothing against bare feet. I loved life in bare feet! For some reason, I just ache too badly these days when I try it for very long. I have very high arches, and I just feel better with solid support underneath them.

Don't the Kenyans win races barefoot? It surely is a wonderful sensation. You pick up so much information in bare feet, almost as much as bare hands!

I'm the typical barefoot hillbilly....when I get home, those shoes and socks come OFF! :p My dad can run better barefoot and can, at 78, beat my boys in a foot race over a short distance.

I've gone barefoot so long that my feet have widened....at least that's the reason I'm going to give for having fat feet! :D

I have always gone barefoot at home, weather permitting. In the woods, down by the animals, down the road, etc. I can easily run on gravel now with little pain, as my feet have adjusted to it over the years. Not to mention I can run much faster barefoot than with shoes.

You know when you ARE wearing shoes, and your walking in the mud, and it all gets caked on and your feet get heavy? That's how wearing shoes in the first place is like; to me anyway. - you can't feel the terrain under your feet, you can't grip the ground a certain way to balance yourself, etc.

My favorite thing to do when barefoot is find a nice patch of moss and rub my feet on it - natural carpet!

While I love going barefoot most of the time, running isn't one of those times. I run on pavement. Asphalt and the patches of tar get gooey hot in summer, there's nails and broken glass on it, a mass migration of earthworms after a rain, dog and horse poo.
I can't see my diabetic friends running barefoot in any circumstance.
I'll save barefoot for my house, my yard in the areas where there's no chicken poo and the beach.

ewww "a mass migration of worms"! :sick

I wondered about hard surfaces and I read that the runners did run on some flat rock surfaces and had to pick and choose where they put their feet. (I'm sure there was NO glass, rocks or sticky patches of tar in their village! :p )
