:barnie the heat lamp is out in the big coop this morning, I went back into the garage to get a replacement bulb. the bulb box was on the floor and the bulb inside was just a collection of glass shards. :barnie

Looks like a trip to TSC this afternoon, I wonder what trouble I can get into? ;)

Yeah.....the RIRs we had last time we're terrible chickens but I restrained because we liked em. I prefer dark meat, so were doing some DP roos home hatched and some bought.....
What was the issue - I love my adopted RIR - she's docile and a great layer?

That are NOT hardy at all, ever last one of em got sick. They were predator targets and every bad thing that can happen to a chicken happened to them...........

Howdy guys and gals! Hows it going? Well we went to church today, and a lady there's house burnt down. Auntie bought some dishes and glasses and Mom had a new can opener she has never used and were gonna send it her way, I may contribute a dozen eggs :D

Me, sister and mom went to Mamaw and Papaw's anniversary thats on my dads side. They are divorced but she was invited just the same.

I got ten eggs today! Thats not as good but great anyway :D

The rabbit has never had them babies, BUT she is asking really weird and had growled at me SO Im assuming they are on the way.

Im also in the middle of the great broody expirement! :woot

I took one of my hens who had sat on eggs for a day and got 6 eggs and marked em and took her to the other building with the eggs and made her a nest in the floor with lots of straw. I put her on them then a milk crate over her to keep her on them till this time tommorow. (Dont tell mom or animal control :D)

Im also not going to have to order chicks. My customer is fine with what I may hatch this summer via ducks. I have a friend who breeds Australorps then my Cousin breeds Buff Orps so Im taken care of. AND believe it or not my Uncle with the egg farm has figured out a way to sex the eggs before they are even sat on. 2 monthes ago he got a broody and he put 8 eggs under her. He put his wedding band on string and if it goes back and forth its a pullet and in circles its a cockerel and he put 6 pullet eggs under her and two he didnt know what they were. And guess what hatced??? 6 pullets and 2 cockerels!!

Whadya think about that????

That seems counterintuitive to biology... ;) I love hearing about things like that. Does it have to be a wedding ring or just a ring? If it has to be a wedding ring, can you have someone else do it over your eggs? Else how will you know if the experiment worked?
