Had two more people ask to get on my "egg route" today. I have 4 eggs total in the 'frig right now and the hens have slowed way down again. :th

Getting an estimate from a local Amish guy to frame, side, and roof my new coop I want to build soon. I can finish it out inside myself.

Counting the days until I can start my seeds. I actually saw my asparagus bed poking out of the snow tonight when I was out feeding the chickens.

I can't start until March 15th at the earliest - cabbage. 'mater and peppers much later. Direct sowing seeds will depend on how wet things are.

We will have maters started then. Then sow taters first of April. Hopefully!

I guess it's all about how lucky I feel about the last frost and the "wetness" of the garden when the 'maters are ready to plant. I just want to feel the earth between my fingers.

Do you have a projected hatch date on the eggs?

Woot Congrats on selling the rabbit!!! I'm still having issues selling off my last batch (most the the meaties born were boys... no one wants the boys) Plus some idiot next town over posted rabbits for sale 3 bucks each on craigslist... :smack :barnie How am I supposed to sell mine with prices that low! (If all my cages were not filled to the brim I would buy them up myself at that price) No way he could be making any type of a profit off of that! I don't ever go lower than 10 and that's only if they are buying a whole batch or something... not worth my time to go any lower... I would rather have the meat than sell them at a loss... Oh well... Spring is approaching so hopefully things pick up when the next batch is ready to go! speaking of which I need to run back outside here in a min and check on one of my does that are due...

As for seeds I will probably start my peppers inside here in a week or so... they take about 2 weeks to germinate then typically start out slow growing... so I start them early so they are a decent size for May1 planting... Tomatoes will be in a few weeks to almost a month before I start those... I have a mini greenhouse hubby bought me a few years back... but it's so windy up on this crazy hill I don't know where I could put it so it wouldn't blow away! :hide It would be great to be able to set it up though if I can....

I can't wait for Spring!!! :weee

We have huge flakes of heavy snow falling today. Doesn't feel much like spring!

Buff is still broody! Day 2 is CHECKED!

A teacher at school came to me and told me they were incubating eggs in there. And they said if Id provide eggs I could have the chicks. So I have to get my chicken friends together and see how many eggs theyd like set.

I m setting 18 Australorp eggs, 24 Buff Orpington Eggs, and maybe BSL if there is room.

I already promised a lady 5 Buffs and 5 Aussies or BSL.

Then cous wants a mix of BSLs and Aussies. Isnt particular on the number.

Then the friend who has BAs wants BOs so Im gonna give him some Buffs pullets that hatch.

Hoepfully it will be a good hatch!
