Well then, if it happens again, you might have something but I still wouldn't be concerned unless it happened again. Just my two cents from someone with a way overactive imagination!

Im overactive in the imagination department. BUT this is not the first time I have felt weird up there. I get that feeling that someone is in the room with you. But never is.

We go through our house and pray in each room on a periodic basis. Go through the house and pray everywhere. Can't say that we have anything funny going on but it makes us feel better. And why not call on the Lord to protect you, your father, his house and his property.

I did that last night and I went to sleep and the cracking (that was minimal after the stair deal) left. So it did turn out okay. But its just weird......

Weird things do indeed happen, and there is no denying that there is another world out there that is spiritual. No need to fear it thought, just claim the blood of Jesus and those things cannot hang around. I used to play around with my psychic side...(runs in the family) and it was not a good thing. Had a few very very frightening experiences with those kinds of things and had to ask the Lord for forgiveness for having opened that door.
Now that dorr is firmly closed and my Lord protects me from all those things.
They are not things to play with, but they are definitely things to pray about.

I'd say if the dogs did not react, it was either a person they knew on the stairs or no one was there. Is your family sure there was no person who had reason to sneak in? Nothing missing from the house?

I know the feeling you are referring to. I stayed at an apartment for a few months that gave me and a friend that feeling, like we were not alone. She and I both felt strange, like a person was there that never showed themself. We did pray in the room and I don't know if it just made us feel better, but the feeling went away after we repeated the prayers a few times. It was also a very old house so it could have been settling and what not too, but you can see where the word "unsettling" came from!

I think I'd sleep with a dog next to me, just like I always do, in order to know that if something was there I needed to wake up for, they would let me know.

Dogs generally will react to the "weirdness" you are talking about as well. I think the best thing is to just let it ride. If it will make you feel better pray through the house and ask blessing and protection on every door and window - after all, you can't go wrong with asking God for His hands on things.

Pray over the house Jamester. If the dogs didn't react then nothing was there. I do believe there are a load of things we do not understand about this world and the spiritual world, but I also believe kids and animals are more in tune with the abnormalities that do occur WHEN they occur. Your dad freaked you out, not anything that was there. You were fine until he came in and mentioned it. The dogs were fine. Nothing there bro

When I was a kid about your age we lived in a house that stairs did that every single night, all of the animals went crazy on that old farm. The three calves that tried to jump through the barn door in the middle of the night, was at that place. I think I mentioned them to you before. My horse went nuts there and we eventually sold her. The dog died there etc. etc. Our vehicles would stay running in the driveway AFTER they were turned off and keys taken out and then they would sputter off after a few minutes. Ball lightning in the front yard, shadows crossing the room, doors flung open when no one else was home while I was eating my cereal at the kitchen table and almost got hit by the door...uh...I have to say things DO happen that you can't explain. I saw people who weren't there at least not physically. You can't put your hand through something physically there. We all(the whole family) saw my dead uncle walking back to the barn from the back pasture with my cousin(also deceased) that were buried in the graveyard next door just a few years prior to that incident. Both wakes were held in that home. I dunno, can't explain the stuff, but even the bible speaks of ghosts and spirits. When the seer called Samuel's spirit back from the spirit world for Saul, or when the disciples thought Jesus was a ghost after He returned. Who knows exactly why, but I am telling you, the animals know. The animals generally sense it before we do, so if the dogs were okay, so were you I never had any kind of experience when all the animals were okay...ever. Every time something happened, the animals were going haywire.

Just an idea, but animals are pretty good at telling the difference between troublemakers and okay people. The same may apply about spirits. The dogs may have noticed and decided it was not a threat - and went back to sleep.

My old trailer still had the spirit of a past resident but she never tried to do any harm and animals didn't mind her being around. The neighbors recognized who she was and told me a little about her. I didn't try to make her go, cause she was just keeping an eye on the home.

If the dog knows the person sneaking around, they would not react necessarily. I know of a situation where this happened and the dogs were calm because the "bad" person was known to them.

Also knew dogs who could spot a person having bad thoughts about their family. I can explain neither, except that they are probably more in tune with their instincts than we are. And in the case of not recognizing the bad person in the home, perhaps the stealing of possessions from a house was not important to the dog, since its person was not harmed.
Sorry, I'm always giving the dog perspective, but whadaya expect from someone who calls themself savingdogs?
