Hey BB, great to hear everything is ok with you. We are also feeling that something is coming down the pike and just making sure to be prepared.

Hey ksalvagno! I think we have all of our preps in line.

I forgot to add earlier but we planted herbs in some pots. 2 Sage, 1 Basil, 1 Spearmint, and 1 CIlantro. Is spearmint a good medical herb?

Yup! It's cooling, and it gently sooths the digestive tract. Also freshens breath. :)

What would be some more medicinal herbs?
Most herbs have some sort of medicinal property. But right off the top of my head...

Lemon balm: Calming, slightly warming
Marshmallow: Helps dry sinuses
Ginger: My favorite herb, eliminates nausea and gas and is VERY warming
Oregano: Somewhat antibacterial (Helped my goats with their URI)
Chamomile: POWERFUL sedative, sooths the gut
Peppermint: Same as spearmint
Catnip: I don't know what the heck this does, but I tried it once and I felt buzzed. :/
Elderberry: Potent antiviral, in tincture form. Will kill any viral illness within 72 hours.
Dandelion Root: Diuretic
Cinnamon: Warming, good for colds

Some other things I use are honey and lemon.

Edited for: Typo

I wouldn't use it for colds. The nature of a cold is to make you feel cold, so giving it an herb that chills the body is a bad idea. I would use mint for diarrhea, gas, or overheating. I don't use it much.

Sage might do better for a cold, even though its not ideal. I just did some research on it, and it's antimicrobial, good for the blood (clearing toxins, diabetes, liver boost) and helps with memory.

Cilantro can remove heavy metals from the bloodstream, and improve appetite.

Basil is in the mint family, so it helps with mild digestive upsets, but from what I've seen of it, it doesn't cool you down as much.

There you go. :)

my personal must haves in the garden
lemon balm
catnip
lavender
(together they make an EXCELENT bug repelant and catnip oil on its own is almost as effective as deet!!!) i like to plant them by doors and windows to keep the bugs at bay too!
anything lemon scneted is also good as a pick me up, refresher ect.
catnip tea is great for colds!
lavender is incredibly soothing and the floowers are yummy to eat too!
mint, good when your overheated, feeling tired and is very soothing for achey muscles when rubbed in...ive used it to calm an upset tummy too...
(i grow spear, apple and chocolate mints) be warned though they spread like crazy)

we of course also do the culinary herbs in general which are moslty used for our cooking but often for other uses, right now weve got rosemary *plant by a gate to invite good fortune according to legends* basil, cilantro and chives...

nettle tea is great for colds and flu...
