Im just about to bawl at the computer. Its goods to know I have been missed. I havent had internet at my house for three weeks and its been one mess after another to clean up so I havent had time to get it fixed neither has mom. Summer is gonna be long as usual. For two weeks (not back to back) in both June and July I will be with my Dad. Away from the Homestead. Luckily the garden is the Granny and the Mom's thing so they get that done well without me. I help when I can. Then in June on the weeks Im not with dad I have 3 days and 2 night of the Kentucky FFA COnvention. Im competing there. Im also a chapter representative there to. Then after a this convention week its FFA camp for 4 night and 5 days. Then this month I have stuff going on as well. Banquets, Prom and other things. So in list form is a Homestead update:
*The Duck went broody and is due on the 18th I think she has 15 or 16 eggs under her
*I got 16 Australorp chicks on the 22nd, they are doing well. No losses.
*The new rabbit had her kits. She had 6 and lost one. So I have 5 babies running around in the cage. Im gonna keep all the females. Im not sure what Im gonna do with the males yet. I may try and butcher them.
*The Baby Buffs are not babies anymore. They are HUGE. I have 3 maybe 4 pullets out of them.
*All the ducks are laying now. Im not letting these brood yet.
*The hens have slowed down some.
*We have a bunch of plants in the screened in porch and in the float bed.
*The meaties got butchered. They were huge! I was thrilled. They are for supper tommorow night.

Then for the last week I have had this sense of dread. Like SHTF stuff is going to happen. Its just hit me all of the sudden and I dont know why.

Wow, that's a lot of stuff! I know it's hard being away from the homestead (I'm gonna have to do it in a few days... ) Power through it! Before you know it, you'll be back were you belong with your animal babies.

And about the SHTF feeling... I'm having that feeling now. Something is telling me that it's going to be a VERY hard year, especially weather-wise. It's already going sour up here. Spring is late! And we had thunderstorms in winter. I dunno, I might just be paranoid. I wouldn't get too worked up about it. Time spent worrying is time that could've been spent having fun. God will get you through the tough times!

Morning! Glad to hear you guys didn't sustain major damage. We've missed you but know that you gotta take life as it comes. Praying for you and your feeling of dread. Just remember, that even when you have that sense, we were not given a spirit of fear... Aware and watchful and prepared yes, fear no.

This week I suddenly realized I don't have any water set by and am going to get a bunch of containers. I think it's the storms setting it off

I will once I have water I'll have to run to REI for containers. Make sure they can safely live in my freezer.

Also, we're tops in almost every scenario that includes someone bombing or poisoning the US. Everyone wants Denver to go down with DC.

Im in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. In a location where we can reced into the cliffs. If necessary. I think were prepped pretty well. We have lots of canned goods. All of our plants and seeds are here. The fruit trees are off to a good start. The animal are good. They are reproducing good so we would have meat. I feel safe just a nagging worry lately. WHat kind of preps do you have?
