Its all good. I was wondering why it moved anyway!Farmfresh said:I really miss the "Invasion of the Blue Coats".
We used to host the FFA National Convention annually in Kansas City at about American Royal time each year. I have great memories of showing my horse at the Royal to a stand full of blue jackets. Unfortunately Kansas City has gotten more and more violent and several years back the FFA Chairman tried to find a solution to the problem so that the FFA kids would be safer. Following his attempts the "FINE" Mayor of Kansas City (now an equally talented congressman in my opinion) basically told the head of the FFA that we didn't need the money from those fine farm boys in our city. So the convention moved else where.
Kansas City lost a lot on that day. Both money and a part of our heritage. The American Royal has changed a lot as well. It used to be the seats sold out each night of the Royal, now most people think the American Royal is a barbeque contest followed by bull riding and that is all.
I am feeling too old and grouchy tonight. Sorry Buff.
I love FFA!MsPony said:I'm so jealous you get to do FFA! We had a very poopy cityish 4-h
I didnt do scouts. However its really not that Ag based. In High School freshman year you can take Intro to AgScience (basic course) here you learn basic stuff about ffa and some minor ag procedures. Then each year you can a differennt specialized ag class (I chose Floral Design for Sophmore year). Then if your advisor thinks you are good enough and work hard enough and represent the chapter well you are in the running for an office. I am in the running now I will know where I am next semester. I hope that helps! You also compete in Ag based competitions a lot.savingdogs said:I know what the initial stand for, but I'm from the city and don't really know what FFA does. Can you give me an overview so I'm not such a newbie to country stuff, BB? you sound like the perfect person to describe this group to me. Is it like scouts but agricultural?
