Only in high country. :)

We don't often get really deep snows, and it melts fast because even the snow is dry out here LOL. That's what makes it powder and therefore good for skiing.

I've never skied yet though LOL.

Anyway, in February we ought to get a few good blizzards!! Shut down the city for a while. I work from home so as long as I have power and internet, I won't even miss work ;)

We are supposed to get 4 to 5 inches. The tree branches are piled with snow now. Abi I like the powdery snow the best not so wet. If that makes sense

Yeh :) I was talking to a customer who just moved to Colorado this year so it's his first winter and I told him to invest in a good stiff push broom. Most snow that's better than a shovel, here LOL. Shovels just pack it into a thin ice layer.

I hope we get more than a dusting tonight!!!

I've ordered Cornish X twice from Murray McMurray hatchery and they worked out great. They arrived healthy and grew out with no losses or deformities.

Now the Black Australorps I got from them I wasn't so happy with. They did fill out great and looked like they should, but they were poor layers/bad quality of eggs (while my EEs from MMH were egg laying machines with beautiful, perfectly formed eggs, so it couldn't be how I was feeding/managing them.)

I've pretty much come to the resolution that if I want a good foundation for a breeding flock, I am willing to pay the price to get them from a private breeder who is less concerned with filling orders and more concerned with breeding to the standard.

But like I said, their Cornish X are great.

I buy all my chickens from Meyer Hatchery. I have been happy with everything I have gotten so far. But I don't have a rooster and not trying to have broody chickens. I also live about 7 minutes away from them so I can just pick up the chicks and no shipping.

I've had 4 McMurray Buffs. I don't think they've ever gone broody. I did have someone last year who made a feeble attempt at it but I don't remember it being one of the buffs but it might have been. I have one Black Australorp from them. I don't know if she's good size-wise or not. She's pretty and dumb and lousy layer. :/

I have Partridge Rocks from Murray McMurray, they were very good layers and the hens did go broody,..but the roosters were MEAN. Today I ordered Delawares and Rhode Island Reds from Meyers,..they will be here in Feb. I have been told they have nice chicks. I guess we will see. :D I also have some BO and EE's I purchased from a gal who lives in VA who buys chicks in bulk from some hatchery,..have no idea which one,..but the BO are great layers and they also went broody. The EE's are egg laying machines too. My mother has ordered from Murray McMurray for years and has always had good luck with them,..but she was just happy they were alive!

By the way BarredBuff, is it still snowing over there??? It is here,..we have just over and inch or so. Man it is COLD!

No snow here but they are saying snow squalls are supposed to start coming in tommorow night. I may have to do some Partridge Rocks from McMurray. And some Aussies.
