if you like the idea of meat rabbits but temp is a problem, jack rabbits and hares are just as easy to raise, not quite as big on the meat carcas, but they tend to be even more hardy, grat breedes/mothers and grow quite nicely
they tend to be a little more skittish but not as heat sensitive.

hare used to be very poular as a eat source in the uk (and still is in much of europe) it only fell out of favor in the uk because the wild rabbit (euro cotton tail) and domestic rabbit populations exploded and it became an easier choice for wild meat.

I think I'll have to keep thinking on rabbits. Maybe I should just trap the ones that sneak into the chicken run and eat the chicken feed. I bet they're fat and I know what they've been eating! :p

Most states 'round the midwest have "calamity" days. Ohio has 5 per school year for such events.

That's good! It would be awful to have to cut in to summer vacation!

The closest thing we had in southern California to a calamity day when I was in school were smog days. But we didn't get to stay home and we didn't get to go outside for recess! So I guess it's really not like that at all... nevermind... :p
