What sort of a dog is it? Breed has a lot to do with tendencies to kill small livestock. I know hunting dogs are the worst... You said you had labs? :idunno Well, I'm one to talk, I've never had this problem before. So sorry about your hen! :hugs
We used to have AKC labs but mom and dad split so we didnt keep em. We have a hunting dog........

That may be your problem. Until we lost both of our dogs, we had a Springer Spaniel and a Beagle. The Springer wouldn't touch the goats or the chickens because I told her they were off limits. But, I couldn't trust the beagle around them.

Well tommorow for lunch the chicken the dog killed will hit the table. Me and Granny are gonna feast. Fried fresh chicken, pickled corn, greasy grits, and fried sweet potatoes. Doesnt it sound wonderful?

It's like a cobbler. We freeze about 2 gallon of blueberries every summer. Perfect on a cold winter's night, hot with some milk poured over it. A fine finish to your planned feast.
