I had never breed the buns in the cold before but this last batch I had breed them in the fall and we had a horrible cold snap the day they were born! It was 3 degrees the day they were born... it got cold early this year... so we wrapped up the hutch bottom and top so NO draft got in at all.... and we have large nesting boxes that I FILLED with pine shavings... all 3 does that gave birth did great with them and kept them warm... we did lose 2 to the doe squishing them but had 16 all live and are healthy! the moms did a great job of pulling fur and keeping them warm... Only thing I did was one doe had a small litter so I put 2 of the flemish in with her since my flemish had a HUGE litter... it helped to add the babies to the small nest to help keep them warm... but we just kept the wind off of them and they all did great! I did keep a close eye on them but didn't do anything else it was all the momma bunssavingdogs said:Gosh, how do you keep them from being frozen buns? Bring them inside? It never gets quite that cold here, we are lucky.
