Aww, I'm sorry you have to cull a chick.

I think the humidity being a little on the high side is better than being too low the last 3 days.

Good luck, hope you have a good hatch.

If you do decide to fly out to Kansas, I hope you have a safe trip.

Sorry to hear about your aunt...and the little chick too.

Wish I had room to breed chicks...it sounds like so much fun!

There are a couple of specific breeds that I want so someone suggested I search breeders in the area....none. Not a one. Only thing that comes up is a poultry farm to get eggs, meat, and red/black sex links. No chicken breeders for family type back yard birds. No auctions that I can find either.

Seriously looking into flights to Kansas for this funeral so I can see lots of my cousins. It isn't the best time to be gone from the job, though. I feel like I'm neglecting my work. :(

Had turkey egg shaking and heard peeps this morning but didn't see a pip. Washed the hatching incubator and put the turkey and peafowl in it, but the humidity is way up because the incubator wasn't fully dry. :/

Going to have to cull a BBS Orp chick. It had a raw spot on its back since hatching and now it seems like it is paralyzed on one side of its body. A friend told me to put it in a baggy in the freezer and let it go to sleep. :hit

Caught a possum in the trap. It got in the garage and ate lots of cat food overnight.
I hope you work it out so you can go. I missed my aunt's funeral last month because of bad timing at work.
Sorry about the chick. :(

:hugs Sorry to hear about your aunt, Becca. It is hard when God calls someone home and we aren't ready to let go. I'll be saying prayers that if you go, your journey goes well and you have a safe return.

I DID IT!

I got 8 peacock eggs on a whim and 4 of them have HATCHED! :weee I think I would have been happy if 2 made it. I believe I got 3 India Blue and one Pearl. Not really sure yet, though. The breeds were varied in the mix I got. I plan to sell them all. I have no space for adult peafowl. :/

I'm pleased that self-sufficient me was able to fix a door on my garage last night. It wasn't latching properly and opening even when locked. I was worried that it would be a robber's invitation, so a half-hour of work got it fixed. It actually takes a hard tug to shut the door now, but it is better than it opening with just a nudge.

Caught an opossum yesterday, and my neighbor released it 3 miles up the road in the woods. It (or its mate) came back last night and got into the cat food bin the same way as before. :he

I will be going to Kansas, so I doubt I'll be on here until next Friday. :frow

Sorry I didn't get back to you last night, and I did try to call you while driving to work. Truly!
You're forgiven! :p

Is that what you called to tell me last night? I couldn't drag it out of Ernie when I asked him if you told him why you called. He said, "I think she wants to tell you herself."

I was worried about the first peachick. It didn't get up and going very quick. It stayed curled up a long time, but it eventually got going. They all 4 were slower than the chicken chicks to get their legs and such.

That turkey egg I thought was hatching yesterday still only has a pip on it. I'm worried I'm not going to get turkey. :hu

Nice of Ernie not to tell you, but I had to spill it to him. :D At that time I only had 2 out.
