Everyday is hatch day around my place (or at least every Friday for the last couple weeks).

I'm hatching out Crele Polish and Salmon Favorelles. Viability has been great since they came from within state and didn't travel far. I had 5 CP and 1 SF out when I left home and several pips. Today is day 21. Also locked down a half dozen various colored pure Polish that are ready to hatch.

Thought I was done incubating, but I have eggs coming next week.

My Buff Orpington is still in crazy broody mode and won't get out of the nest box, so perhaps I'll give her a job to do.

I was in the baking mood last night and FINALLY made those green tomato bars from tomatoes just starting to go red. I had shredded zucchini so I whipped up some zucchini brownies, but I wasn't paying attention and put in too much sugar, so I ended up doubling that recipe into 2 pans. Needless to say, my coworkers are enjoying treats today -- day after our Biggest Loser contest began.

Oh, and Mom made 2 loaves of banana bread yesterday before I got home. I'm out of flour now.

Getting good potatoes from the garden: Red Pontiac, Kennebec, and All Blue. Still need to dig 5 rows, though. :th

Mom is losing her renter, so there is work to be done over at that house. I'd love to move the storage shed over to my place and use it for chickens. :D

Mom wants to go again to the farmer's market this Saturday for more plums and I don't know what. :hu So another early morning with no time to ease into the weekend. :/

Have fun with your weekly hatches...sounds like fun to me :)

Are you and your mom planning anything special with the plums? I never seem to hit on good deals from my farmers market, which is very frustrating! They sell heirloom toms for $4.99 lb :th

Where are you, Lori? I hope to have extra chicks, though I think my friend has first dibs.
And which friend would that be?? NOT ME~no real interest in Polish!....but I did call dibs on any SF's you decide not to keep..... :hide

We got Vincents for $3 in a quart basket. Two baskets for $5. And it really was a lot of plums. We washed them, pierced the skin, and canned them whole in a fairly light syrup. They were also good eating. There is a plum preserves recipe I might try.

Given the chance, I make a lot of plum butter, a family tradition. We use it on toast and for Christmas cookie filling. :drool
