I had a productive weekend.

Got at least 19 hatchlings at last count (polish and Salmon Faverolle).

I cleaned out my main coop Saturday. I used the deep litter method so it went 10 months with an average of 15 birds most of the time before the litter was full and drawing flies. When the chickens came to roost, I dusted everyone. Had to wear goggles and breathing mask.

I also got the turkey pen and "dog coop" cleaned out. Turkeys make big poop.

Sunday I picked up a quad of young Columbian Wyandottes from a guy who breeds to find show quality birds. The CW were some of the first on my wish list. They went into the "dog coop." This morning one of the 2 boys was crowing. :D

I didn't get any canning done this weekend, but Mom put up some zucchini jam.

Congratulations on the Columbian Wyandottes. I think they are beautiful birds. Our hen, Mary, was always very calm and quiet. At QA's, it is probably hard to hear Mary when she makes a noise! :gig

I forgot to mention that I got my very first 3 duck eggs over the weekend. Someone is laying them between night lockup and morning release. I'm betting that it is the Khaki Campbell I bought from Aly as it is the oldest female in my flock. :weee

Made some plum butter last night in between loads of laundry in prep for a work trip. YUM!

Pray my mom can handle everything while I'm gone. She has been feeling pretty good health wise, but stressing about me being gone for 4 nights when I've got this whole collection of birds at the moment.

I'm looking forward to the October 16-17 swap and unloading some birds. :D Yes, I will get rid of many. I hope! :LOL

Prayers for your safe travel and for your mom's health while you are gone. :hugs

Do you have a routine written down? My dh found it helpful when I was working nights to know what I did....and we only had one place for birds! :D
