I think PamsPride made cake balls last December. You can check her journal for the recipe I think.

A light beige egg could be Mary Lincoln or Betty Ford. Rachel Jackson's eggs are more of a mauve brown color. Hannah van Buren's eggs are soft white. :D How did your dog get one of the eggs? Other than the lack of eggs, how are The Ladies behaving? They usually do slow down during winter. But our winters have been really ugly, so I don't mind that they conserve their energy for staying warm instead of laying eggs.

Sounds like you & QA & E and family had a great time!
I gave the dog the egg since the Ladies had had a round of Duramycin. Rachel has had a running eye/nose, but they all seem fine and would like to be out to roam the yard I'm sure. This morning they got some plain yogurt with a bit of garlic and carrot mixed in. Hope they will eat it and get a boost.

I'm too tired and still too busy to give a detailed report of my weekend == Saturday at OH National Poultry Show, Sunday church and a neighbor's open house event, and Monday at the county livestock auction. Read Quail_Antwerp's journal as I was with her Saturday and Monday.

Nationals was very interested, but I should have gone in with a better plan. I'm still an impulse buyer. :hide But I did find the gold-laced wyandotte roo that I was really needing. He isn't "perfect" but I think he'll be fine to work with. Saw my first blue Langshans and loved them. Roos are gorgeous. Got a hen to put in my black flock. Saw the cutest pair of gold-laced seabrights. Had to bring them home. Got a pair of beautiful blue LF cochins from a BYCer to round out my flock.

I wanted to check out Barnevelders and see if I want to work with them, but I didn't see any even on show. I was tempted on buying a trio of Partridge Rocks as I love that color pattern.

So I downloaded a few birds at auction for next to nothing, but my bronze turkey sold for a decent price. I just couldn't butcher him. Aly said she'd plan to help me this coming Saturday if we just set aside the time and butcher my chickens on death row.

I really need to pick a small number of breeds to work with, but I just can't seem to pick. I love variety! :he

Did talk to local feed store owner about setting up 2 Saturdays around Easter as chick days. Aly and I can both plan to hatch out chicks, ducklings, and bunnies to sell. Maybe E can make some cool carriers like I picked up at Nationals and some nest boxes. Looking forward to that. :D
