Not sure if I have that kind of stamina -- or freezer space.
Oh, Becca! Out of the goodness of my heart, I will offer my freezer in which to store your poultry...... :D Just let me know when you want to cook one and I will send it through the mail. It just MAY get there! :drool Oooh, better yet: I will cook it for you and let you know how it was! :pop

I have 4 of the First Ladies at my house: Rachel, Hannah, Betty, and Mary. :weee :love

Betty and Mary had been bad girls, roaming far and wide and into the road at QA's house. Since everyone at my place is confined to runs, I have these 4 girls and will teach them to behave. LOL

I have gotten 2 eggs so far from the girls. One was light beige that we ate, but the dog got the other last night. :/

Speaking of eggs, my Cayuga ducks are machines, giving me an egg a day. The KC and WH are not giving me much at all. Maybe I need a Cayuga drake to breed more of these great ducks. ;) But the duck hormones are high in my yard as it is. My 2 oldest boys are being rather rough on the girls, even when the geese yell at them to stop.

Tomorrow and Sunday and even Monday are looking like great weather days. Why do I have to be in Akron tomorrow? :he Sometimes I hate the commitments I've made, though I know they are also good for me.

Bee, I told my brother that I have Thanksgiving dinner walking around on 2 legs, but he said he's not counting on me bringing it to his table. :plbb Even if I send the birds to your freezer, the first issue is getting them dead. :idunno

My MIL asked me if I would really be able to kill them when she saw the tractor full of broilers and Chad and I looked at each other and then at her and said YES!!! But I understand about my laying hens.....hard to kill them when they develop personalities over time.

So, come do mine that you haven't owned. :D
Is that something else you want to try to tackle Sunday afternoon? I'm sure Ernie and I can wipe out your garden pretty quickly, and maybe we could get a bird or two processed while we're there??? :D

Would be good practice, right? :p

Looks like you girlies should be swapping chores when it comes time to clean chickens!

A big thank-you to Quail-Antwerp and her family for coming Sunday afternoon and helping me dig the last of the potatoes, take out garden trellises and overgrown, and move two pens. It was a big help to get that done and more fun with the help to do it. Just watching the kids dive for potatoes and load them in a toy dump trunk brought many laughs.

We didn't get any butchering done, but there are only so many things you can tackle in a short afternoon. :)

Stupid turkeys spilled there large waterer. So last evening I was scooping up wet bedding and pulling up linoleum since the spill was were my floor covering overlaps -- of course. :he

Tasted cake balls for the first time on Sunday. I must make these ASAP! Found the recipe here. Very simple yet elegant and very gifty. :D

I think PamsPride made cake balls last December. You can check her journal for the recipe I think.

A light beige egg could be Mary Lincoln or Betty Ford. Rachel Jackson's eggs are more of a mauve brown color. Hannah van Buren's eggs are soft white. :D How did your dog get one of the eggs? Other than the lack of eggs, how are The Ladies behaving? They usually do slow down during winter. But our winters have been really ugly, so I don't mind that they conserve their energy for staying warm instead of laying eggs.

Sounds like you & QA & E and family had a great time!
