My birthday is Sunday. The big 4-0. But thanks for thinking of me, Kel.

Rivers are still up around here so we don't need any more precipitation.

Rabbit #2 is nest building. Got 7 from the first.

Took QA's advice and hired an Amish girl to help me clean today. She worked fast and very well from 9 to 2. Feels good to have the house cleaned.

I need a bridge across the River Mud. I slip and slide to the back coop. Thank God for muck boots.

I have an escape artist. My two young Sussex Roos were fighting, so I put one in a homemade cage with a top of heavy plastic netting. I even put a 1x6x4 board on top of it. Came home from work to no roo in the cage. The board was on the floor and the top flipped open. Found him in with the Sussex. Their inside brooder coop is only covered with tarp, so he jumped on top and broke through.

Ditto! We still have a lake in the far back yard :/ But at least the ducks are happy.

Belated happy birthday Becca - I missed that post.

Life feels like a whirlwind right now. :barnie

Not getting the poultry breeding done that I wanted to due to mud flooded runs and inability to move the movable hoop houses. Need to fence more back property for grazing area that will have alternate access to from two or three different runs.

About time for more baby bunnies. Hoping these mothers do well. I have 7 from the first litter now with eyes opened. :bun

Been feeling down lately. Lots of headaches. Woke up Saturday with one that quickly turned to a migraine. It was followed by stomach sickness and even what seemed to be fever, so it may have been a combo of headache and bug. Knowing my body, I'm pretty sure most of the headaches are related to my neck/spine and the need for an adjustment. Just don't have the time or money to get there and get it done. I need a local chiropractor who works with my insurance. :(

Got hit this week with a big repair bill on my Blazer. Would be $1900 to fix all that they saw on it. I only did one thing and got it out for $280. :/ It is really time to shop for new wheels as I can't rely on this 11+ year old vehicle very much anymore. The problem is what to get in its place. It should be able to pull my small trailer at least a couple times per year. Should handle snow well. Be as fuel efficient as possible and dependable on long trips. It also should be accessible to an older woman like my mother. And shouldn't put me too deep in car payment debt. Whew!

Hoping to rent a Ford Escape for an upcoming trip so I can give it a real test to see if one would fit my needs. But the last car rental I did, I didn't get really close to the type of vehicle I wanted. :/

I made Monster Cookies last night. They made the world feel better for the moment. :D

Hope you feel better soon! I hate migraines! I have used magnet therapy when they used to strike with great results.

FREEZING here! Just when my blood thinned out on those extra nice days. :rant

Had last week off work. Planned to go to VA for a wedding, but I ended up spending most all week nursing my mother through a terrible cold, possible bronchitis. We did not go to VA. I returned the rental car early -- an awesome 2011 Ford Edged that was all tricked out with computerized stuff.

This weekend I baked/cooked out my frustrations while being stuck inside with my mother and away from the stinking cold weather. I did the black bean cake, then I cooked up a whole chicken from last summer's butchering and did noodle soup as well as creamed chicken for sandwiches. Still have some yummy broth to use. Next I did a crock pot full of pea soup. It was dinner last night, and the leftovers went in to the freezer for future grab and go lunches. Baked again. This time I did pound cake. In one loaf I put blueberries. Could have baked longer.

Then before bed last night I set my first batch of eggs in the Hovabator incubator (9 Embden/Pomeranian geese, 6 Hookbill ducks, 2 Muscovy ducks). This morning I woke to the nightmare it could be to have to brood 9 goslings together!!!! :ep

Hoping to start some chickens (Ameruacana and Marans) and call ducks and runner ducks in the cabinet incubator tonight.

Lord, help me if I can't sell all these waterfowl babies.

Second litter of successfully born and nurtured baby bunnies came this week. I believe there are 6. First litter are hopping all around, annoying their mama, and starting to eat pellets and drink water.

Of all the breed divisions I did Sunday, half were undone by Monday evening. Roosters and hens jumped fence(s) back to old nest boxes and territorial claims. Had rooster fights and bloody combs.

So I worked hard last night to reorganize everyone. Now 2 coops are closed tight until the chickens learn their place. :rant No yard time or free-ranging in the sun. I feel sort of bad, but there doesn't seem to be a better way to teach them to claim their new space as home.

Sorry to hear about your mom....I hope she's better now. :hugs

I don't think we will ever have another rooster...too much fighting, too much testosterone.

What color are your runners?
