No way!!! How cool! Smart people there. Just think of all those folks who have to hide their few little hens and other cities have goats! Not right, I tell ya!

I think, if you have a good fence and you have the appropriate space for whatever animal you are wanting, they should encourage it.

I know you guys have cell phone reception and a choice of restaurants and all, but I wouldn't trade living in the country for all the malls in the US! :p I can't even imagine asking for permission to have an animal in a yard that I own! Or even asking permission to build something onto your own home.....it would kill me and I would run afoul of the law fer sure!

We could have an elephant in the back yard and no one would complain! They'd be wanting to know everything about it and your detailed daily bowel regimen to go along with it....but they wouldn't care about you having one!

Oh, I don't live in Seattle, I live way out in the country too at the end of a long dirt, dead-end road. I can get to Seattle by an hour long ferry ride, but I choose not to if I can help it, too much to do around here. :)

Oh yeah Bee I see it now. An elephant parked right in next to Blossom. Wouldn't the neighbors slow to gawk then??

Be careful what you wish for!!!

Hey, there is always that possiblity, tanks! I never planned on getting a cow either, so an elephant would be just as likely, I guess!

I don't think the neighbors would be surprised at this point....they are ready for weird things at my place! :gig

You must be talking about me. What gets me is that Denver also allows chickens but I live in a small town NE of Denver and it isn't allowed for in the zoning. It really isn't fair. What sucks is that I can hear a rooster from the section of AG zoned houses that are less than 1/2 mile away. I don't want a darned rooster but I do want the right to have whatever animal I choose as long as there isn't any health issues (poo pile up).

That is awful! I lived in a small town before I moved here and kept my chickens---a whole flock---in a chicken tractor in the day and in the coop at night. Also had several pens of meat rabbits in the same coop. Occasionally one hen would get out and my neighbors would be concerned and call me.....so we killed....er....culled her so as to not cause any ruckus amongst the neighbors.

I can't imagine how 3 chickens could be worse than the dog barking its fool head off and pooping everywhere in the next yard over! :he

My girls (I've got 6) are definitely much quieter than my neighbors dogs. They are still young so they are still sounding like all the other birds that fly around. Heck, I've asked my neighbors if they've heard anything out of my girls and they keep saying nope. GOOD! That's how I want it to stay. My oldest girls are now 6 weeks old and my youngest are around 2-3 weeks. They are out in the run or in the coop to their own discretion. I think we have enough room for a dairy goat or two. I don't think they'd be lonely as my kids would be all over them all the time but I just don't think my neighbors (or husband) are ready for that request just yet. Baby steps.
