Aiden, were you the person on TGS that was looking into Nigerian Dwarves over there near Denver?

No I guess your not; there was a topic on TGS from someone in Denver, I think it might be pretty helpful to you.

Edited to remove link - now that we've got our own goat forum on BYHerds we will no longer allow links to competing forums

Sorry to hijack Bee!

Geek son was just telling me that the people over at Google hire a goat crew to keep weeds down on their property. They said on the Google article that they cost less and are much cuter that any grounds crew! Ideas are changing. Maybe someday I CAN have that garage cow!:p

No prob, Amos....hijack away! I don't like the term hijack, as I think all this discussion, whether it veers from the OP or not, is pleasant and sort of like a group of folks sitting around on a front porch having a conversation...which rarely ever stays on one topic! :p

No calf this evening.....still waiting. This is the first evening I didn't spend time with the cow....just checked her over, checked her water, noticed how much grass left in the paddock and hit the garden runnin'.

The dogs are barking up in that direction right now, so I'm going to get off of here in a minute and check it out. When they bark, its a predator of some sort....they never bark at deer or the neighbor's cows.

They stopped barking, so whatever was there is no longer there. If it were a big predator, the younger dog would bark. He only barks at dangerous things like 'yotes, bear, humans, other dogs.

The older dog will bark at fox, coon, possum, squirrels, and anything else with four legs and the nerve to get close to "her" property!

Yeah, the baby needs a little more bake time, apparently. It will happen when it happens, I guess. I can't wait to hug that sweet little thing.....not much in this world as cute and clean as a new baby calf....particularly a little Hereford calf~so pink, white and red! :love This calf should be a little blacky, so no pinkness.

She's the proverbial watched pot....she ain't gonna boil until she feels like it!

Believe me, I can barely wait! I check her each morning around 6 or 6:30 am, expecting to see a little dark shape in the grass at her feet. When I get home in the evening, the first thing I do is check Blossom.

The other night I heard a voice in the night saying, "Mom! Mom!" I came awake immediately and listened again, thinking one of the kids needed me. No one spoke. It was 4 am. There I lay thinking.....well.....is God trying to tell me something? So, nothing would have it but that I put on my barn boots, a camo jacket on top of my nightie and traipse up to the top of the orchard to check on Blossom! She standing there thinking I'm a crazy lady and chewing her cud lazily.

I'm tempted to give her a laxative! :p :D It wouldn't make much difference in the consistency of her stool, that's for sure and certain! :/ :sick

Hmmmmmm........wonder if that would work on a cow? :pop

Oh Bee, I can not imagine being in your shoes! Well..I guess I will be next spring, if everything goes well with the sheep! ;)
So she still has loose stools!? Maybe pepto would help? I know you can give it to goats, and sheep, when they have the runs. I was thinking her stools would have firmed up by now.
Come on Blossom....we want to see that baby!!!

When I was pregnant with both my son, I ran a week late. During that week I did everything under the sun to get him OUT! I used Evening Primrose oil orally and interally. I drank mineral oil (couldn't find castor oil). I briskly walked miles upon miles (or so it seemed). I ate fresh pineapple. There are other things I did but I can't remember it all. Now, with my daughter, I kept it simple and took evening primrose oil several times daily. I also went to the chiripractor (she flipped to inverted at 34 weeks) and that helped to open up my spine and hips correctly.

How does this relate to your cow? Will she follow you for a walk even if it is around the pasture? You could try walking her ino labor. You could try the primrose oil (intended to ripen the cervix) but PLEASE make sure it isn't toxic to cattle. Maybe, the loose stool could be related to her being in early labor.
