Ahh, you guys talking about cows, ... I miss cows...they are such gentle big bovines  except the heifers  Watch out for those frolicking mischievious beasts. I've been chased and cornered in a tree by those. Stuck in the tree for at least an hour, I was  along with my sister and a city friend :gig  I wonder why that friend never visited again?

Hi Bee, I haven't had a chance to chime in today, but I wanted to say that Shade is beautiful!! That photo is stunning and should be on the cover of "Bovine" magazine! :)

YOu really think so? She wouldn't hold still for the shot and kept moving away from me, so I had to do a long distance shot and then magnify and crop to get it to look closer. She is certainly a crafty little miss!

Hey Bekissed, two questions! When is Shades B-day and what was the bull?
I know I can probably look back through your journal, but dial up can be such a pain!
With that info, I can try to get pictures of calves that age and hopefully close to the breed!
It might not get to it for a few days, I am supposed to start cutting hay tomorrow! Raking Wednsday, Thursday, Friday, and if have to rake Saturday, I will go silently NUTS!

I like a little dairy in the genes! I got pretty lucky when ever Mr X decided to cull for age! He would consider them old at 7! I would always get a good cow for a good price!

Shade was born May 25th and was sired by an Angus/Simmental bull, dam is full-blood Jersey. Her mother is 8 years old and seems to be an average milk producer.

Too pretty! I hope you get to go rafting! Chad and I did the Upper Gauley River on our honeymoon!!! We stayed in a cabin at Fort Lewis Lodge and our last day drove into W.VA to do the rafting all day. We had the best guide....she was only about 5 ft tall and she looked like a little squirrel in the back of the raft, popping up and disappearing, popping up and disappearing! I had a blast and so did Chad....once we did the first class 6 rapid...then he could breathe.

Shade certainly is very glossy and bossy looking. Great looking animal you have there.
