Do they even know how ridiculous that sounds? C'mon!!! Did society buy that cell phone and computer, did it let your teen lay in the bed all day or tell it to smart mouth you?

I don't know who exactly this Society person is, but they are in severe need of a butt kickin'!!!! :rant

Tell me about it!!!

I totally agree with you about what a luxury to have a two parent united front!!

Some parents these days make me want to pull out all of my hair! :barnie I worked in private school for over 15 years...boy do I have some stories to tell.

I only read enough to get the idea of your rant and I so agree! Like the parents who say "oh, you'll sing another tune when YOU have kids! You'll be eating your words!" If I say that I wouldn't let my kid do such and such. I HATE that. Yes, I know it will be hard and I may change my views when/if I have kids. But if you go into it saying what those people say, then IMHO you are setting yourself up for failure. In this case I was saying that I would DIE before buying a car/suv that had a DVD system in it. My kids would read or play games (on paper, not a PSP!) not turn their brains into jelly!

Anyway I see so many adults act like children that duh! Of course their kids are terrors. I have so many examples of an "adult" basically throwing a tantrum as if they were four years old! Like if they have to wait in a line. They will sigh dramatically, or demand that I find someone else to help them, or tap their fingers. Honestly. In my imagination I picture the person throwing them self on the floor and screaming "I WANT IT NOW NOW NOW!" Because that's the equivalent of their behavior. I'll just stop here, as three years of retail has given me countless of these incidents.

Bee- I stay away from BYC because of drama like that. When I get chickens I will probably go over more, but not now!

Beekissed you bring up a good rant,...I have to seen way too much of this behaviour and parents blaming it on the "times". Parents never take responsability for their kids actions, they always want to blame it on something else. Its a shame,... This world has gone down the crapper and it is taking our children with it,..

You know what ticks me the most? When they tell folks like lori that old line...just wait until you get kids and your tune will change! Dire predictions. Like when someone told me that I may have good kids now but wait until they get out into the real world......what exactly does that mean? They are not living in the real world now?

The real world is where we live. We choose to participate in all the foolishness or not....THAT is real life. You can be swept up into the flock mentality or you can be an individual and actually think for yourself. A successful parent teaches their children to make wise choices, no matter what choices are available.

I'm sorry for all the parents who bought into the lie that their kids deserve to be like all the other kids. MY kids deserve to be themselves. God made all people different for a reason. Yes, I realize that it feels safer to blend into the flock...you get attacked less. But are you really living your life or are you living the life of the flock?

I have always challenged my kids to stand up, be counted, be an individual. It may not get you as far in this life, as society measures it, but by golly, you can look at yourself in the mirror with pride. You can go before God at the final judgement and say you've done your best with the kids He gave you, with the blessed life He gave you.

Its called values. You either have them or you choose not to have them. But its your choice....society cannot do that for you.

Goin' rafting tomorrow!!!!! :weee :weee Will leave tonight, stay in a hotel, be on the river bank bright and early. Waves will be big because of the recent rains! :ya Will stay at the hotel again that evening and take a different route home....just to see the OTHER road home. You guys ever do that? Just take a different path to have the adventure of seeing what else is out there? Sort of like life, isn't it? :) The path less traveled..... :love

Have fun! When we make a wrong turn, we say "We're not lost, we're taking the scenic route!"

We ALWAYS try to take the scenic route when we travel. So much more enjoyable.

Highway systems are kind of like the old sled dog joke. "If you are not the lead dog the scenery never changes!" :gig When you are on an interstate highway all you get to see is the back of some BIG truck!

Have a blast rafting and I will say a prayer for you. You may be ready to die today, but we would still miss you! :D
