Oh, Farm, that is horrible! Even when I lived in town the light pollution wasn't bad in my yard, as I had the biggest trees in town. We used to have a fire every weekend and the local cops used to come over and sit by the fire with us! :p

We would have hay bales all around and comfy chairs, the kids would eventually go to bed and all the night owls would gravitate to our fire. Pretty soon we would realize it was 3 am and we had solved all the world's problems in one night!

I really can't imagine not being able to see the night sky but I guess all the folks in larger towns and big cities can't, can they? What a sad thing. And not being able to have a campfire is awful!

You need to move to my neck of the woods, Farm! I'll scrooch over and you can sit next to me by the fire! :D

My father and I used to do this together. He tried in vain to teach me the constellations. I just couldn't see "it". I always got even the easy ones mixed up like "the little dipper" and the "seven sisters"...they look just the same to me. :/

I will however, never forget how much fun it was to stay up past my bed time and look into the dark sky filled with bright (Texas sized) stars! No northern lights down there, but the sky seemed so huge.

Bee I'm glad you are back. BB and I are bored tonight. :/

(BTW, If my Mom moved in with me I would be in heaven. I am so happy for you and also for her. I am also glad that things seem to be working themselves out. "There is a reason for everything!" :))

BBH, I have scanned BYC and there are no hornet's nests in which to poke a stick! What are you and BB doing? I was stupid and drank something with caffeine in it, which I almost never do and now I'm up without a good book to read! :(

Yep, I'm real excited about Mom moving in. You guys will certainly love her and I hope to introduce her to the computer whenever she gets settled in. She is a delight! Not as ornery as I, but she'll do...... :D

Yes, she and I have been planning this for years. We had always speculated where she would live if something were to happen to Dad. Now we know!

I can't wait to take care of her as she has been so very good to me. She watched my children when I worked and I didn't have to worry about how they were doing, what they were learning, what they were eating, if they were safe. That was more of a blessing than I can possibly say. And she did it for free all those years!

Now I can return the favor! :)

Wish I had a good book......might have to re-read one of my old ones.... :caf

I found an old copy of Cider House Rules that I'm re-reading for the umpteenth time. I love John Irving. I re-read books over and over. This particular book means something different to me now that I am a mother than it did before when I was in college.

To Kill a Mockingbird, Black Beauty and A Prayer for Owen Meany are just some others I re read. Merle, you have to read Merle's Door.

(Man the coyotes are still going NUTS outside!!)

What book are you reading BB?

No, I haven't read that, but you mentioned it before.

I'm reading Drawing Down the Moon.

I just made some mugwort tea with honey and fresh yellow raspberries. NUM!

The city I live in has OVER 150,000 people in it! ... And every single one of them has a porch light and a stupid street light in front of their house and keeps a night light on in the hall! :barnie

My hubby misses the stars as well. He loves astronomy. He knows those constellations! He even named our DOGS constellation names ... Cassiopeia (Cassie) and Sirius. Same man can barely see the stars at night at his house.

Scooch over Bee I'm on my way over and bringing hubby with me! (I sure wish anyway.) :(
