Bee, I have not been on in a few dya so I just wanted to give you a hug :hugs and a big pat on the back for being the strng woman that you are! Way to take control and tell good ol' Archie how it's gonna go down!

I hope that this place does get investigated, it sounds like what they have done to your poor father is way short of healthy, sanitary and compassionate!

OH MY WORD!!! I haven't been on in 2 days and boy have I missed a lot!

First, I am appalled at how the system has ONCE AGAIN failed miserably. We went through this with Nanny when she was in the nursing home. She has dementia and they expected her to self medicate!!! :smack

They would knowingly let her walk around in urine soaked diapers and call us and complain that she smelled. :smack

We now have her in a loving happy home where she has pets and children and other adults that talk to her and encourage her and make sure she is clean, well fed and properly medicated.

Second, I am soooooooooooooooo proud of you for standing up to them. God is proud of you!!! :hugs

Third, I love throwing candy in a parade! My papa is a member of an antique tractor association and we ride on his tractors sometimes in the holiday parades and throw candy at the kids. Very fun, indeed!

Love you bunches, and your little old bat too!!! :hugs

Thank you, lori! :)

An update on the Dad and the Bat. She called him today and he was able to make sense and talk more rationally. He told her he is now wetting the bed and is very embarassed and can't stop. I found out they had put him on Risperdal to combat the insomnia from the Depakote.... :he He has never had insomnia in his life, nor has he ever been incontinent except one time, when he had a mini-stroke.

The Risperdal is making his sleep so deep he doesn't awaken when his bladder is full. Also, now that he is off the Depakote, his body is able to eliminate all those fluids. He says he is peeing a lot.

The other day, when he was over medicated, my sister helped him call to wish mother a Happy Birthday. Know what he kept saying to her on the phone? Happy Breakfast! My sister told him again to say happy birthday and he repeated Happy Breakfast! :idunno

Sad........but just a little funny~ if it weren't so tragic! :p

He told her that everyone was treating him "like a King" and she told him why! :gig Even HE laughed....and Dad hasn't laughed for a long while.

Today I have serious Candy Induced Rotator Cuff Strain..... :bun :D

Black Betty followed me in to my house unbidden the other day! She must have learned from Earl, the possum, that it's okay to go in there but watch out for the exit flight! The next day she just pawed at the back door when she wanted treats. I am seriously spoiling that sheep! :barnie

I checked online and there is an Ombudsman program in West Virginia. They are responsible for monitoing the care of the elderly, and deaing with level of care. I am not sure which web site would help you, so I will just suggest you run a search and see what you find.

Best of luck. You and your parents are in my prayers.

Kris

Just read your last entry. That sounds like receptive aphasia. He is hearing her say breakfast or is hearing it correctly and it is not translating. Side effect?

Yep. He didn't have that before the med. I looked up the Ombudsman for WV online and there was no link for questions pertaining to reporting abuse. I did find one at the Attorney General's site, so I'm calling there tomorrow and they will direct me to the proper office, I'm sure.

I had always heard it was the Ombudsman, but now I don't know. Will find out tomorrow.

Glad to hear you happy again.
He became a member of p.i.s.s.s.i. for now. Once the extra fluids are passed he' ll have a lot less back pressure on that bladder and may be able to resign. Bet he's glad he's got a spitfire of a daughter. :old :clap
Was Betty feeling left out? Maybe she wanted the candy too. :drool Wish I could help you with the shoulder. I'd barter a shoulder rub for some goat cheese! Yuummm!

Hey, food has been bullying me all my life...twisting my arm and making me take a bite, or two, or twenty! Something should be done..... :rant
