Thanks, Barred! It is comforting to know that others have had to do this also. I've only owned one other dog previous to Lucy and I had to put him down for having huge tumors in his stomach and intestines.

That came on all of a sudden and I didn't know he had them....he just started vomitting and having some pain. He was my favorite dog of all time and no other dog could ever even start to replace him....but if one could come close, it was sweet Lucy Lou.

It will all work out okay. I am of the belief that the really good animals go to Heaven simply because God is especially fond of those He took such care to create gentle, kind and obedient.

I dream that Lucy will finally get to meet my Jimmy and they will both be waiting on the porch of the home God is preparing just for me...they will bound off that porch with bodies made young and healthy again and welcome me home!

I can't WAIT to get there!!!! :fl

:hugs Its amazing how attached we can get to these animals. Right now, I don't have a dog, and really miss having one. But, I just don't have time right now to deal w/a puppy.

I don't know what they did to this little girl pup but she is so very timid and scared around humans. She just walks in a crouch when we are near and I can't seem to love her out of it. No matter how kind and good we are to her, she still seems scared. I sure hope she grows out of this.

Due to her timid ways we couldn't really give her a name yet....for now she is Two. As in pup number...... :p

Got a new office chair!!!! :D My old one just couldn't be repaired any longer and just gave up the ghost the other day. LOVE the new chair....so comfy! The best part? Fake leather seat....repels moisture, if ya know what I mean.....

Go ahead! Make me laugh! :D

Ya know what? I just LOVE my mom! The Ol' Bat cleaned out my old truck for me the other day when I was out of town for work reasons.....detailed it in and out and it smells brand new!!! :love She also put together this new office chair of mine and had it waiting for me when I came home today.

She has also been processing my apple crop each day and working on my house. She reconditioned my old wood stove until it is better than brand new....holds a fire like a dream now! Every day she finds something to do around here that improves our lives.

You know what? All the bad things her children have done to her really worked out to be a blessing in disguise. They didn't defeat her....she is still the great woman she has always been and has grown in faith and strength through all this. She now drives that big, red, shiny truck like a pro all over this state....one would never know that she got her license at the age of 75!

She is such a blessing to me! Everything she does around here makes my life better and easier. I'm so blessed to have her as my mother.....I hope everyone out there has someone in their lives as wonderful as this woman! :) The day she came to live at my house was one of the best days of my life. :love

Here she is rocking our pup, Two, after she had given her a bath. These pups just LOVE her and can't wait to see their grandma when they come in the house for a visit.

Mother's Day is every day here....I love and honor my mother for all the love she shows her family! :love

I so enjoyed reading about your mom! How awesome that you have that relationship with her!

Regarding Two - at her young age she could just be timid by nature. Something that may help will be giving her a "job" to build her confidence - even if that "job" is learning to sit. I would also work on the "10 by 10" rule - 10 people, 10 surfaces (concrete, carpet, wire, grass, dirt, gravel, etc) , 10 sights/sounds (umbrellas, hats, low level fireworks, etc) by 10 weeks.

ETA - it doesn't really matter if they are older. Every pup should experience dozens of new things , slowly, to build confidence

BB, everyone else thinks so too!! She's this tiny, apple cheeked little woman that can work circles around everyone....and loves to keep busy. And sweet??? Would do anything for you and has always been good to her family....her kids love her to pieces! Well....most of them..... Some were born acephalic, sad to say, and do not know how to love anyone.

AL, thanks for the info! I will definitely keep that in mind. Right now Two's job has been to just BE in the house without hiding in corners. She plays well with her brother and seems to be a normal pup when they are alone together....but outside of feeding time, she is very scared of us humans.

I guess we will just work on building trust for now....can't really teach her to sit if she crouches everytime we come near. I did put her gently into a show stance to see if she would do it...and she did! I just held her under her chin and she just froze. Everything I've done with her so far has been slow and gentle. I hope she comes around!
