City Biddy
Bee what a blessing to have a mom like that! I never did. Maybe I can become one for my kids when I get older... right now I have got a LONG way to go and a lot to learn from the Bat!
When we had a timid pup we made a point to always rub them under their chin and on their chest and tummy and NEVER pet the top of their head. This helps them to sit up and hold their head up proudly instead of cowering to the touch.
Some pups are just born more timid, but that in no way makes them less of a dog. (The same goes for people as well.) They just show their strengths in other ways. Our Cassie was a timid pup. Now she is a Nurse Dog. She is very sensitive to her people and their feelings and ailments. She always watches carefully over us if we are sick and is the first to give hugs if we are blue. She also was a very good "sitter" when it came to leaving Sirius alone with the trash can or other tempting problem. He was never allowed to misbehave if she was left "in charge".
