I too am saying a prayer.... that God may give you the strength that you need today. I know Lucy will be waiting for you when you arrive in Heaven.

Well Bee, since you've cried yourself out, I cried for you. I understand your pain and all those sad feelings came rushing back. Just know you did the right thing for poor Lucy and that you're hurting now more than she did.
:hugs

(((((((HUG))))))) You know Lucy so well, that you know when she needs to go on. I just wish it was easier to let go of our furry family members. She knows you love her and that will make her transition easier.

Well, today was one of those turning point days. You know...one of those days that you always remember and life changes after they are done? The end of an era.

The weather was wild and beautiful, with multi-tiered and blue tinted clouds, deep blue sky, the kind of sunshine that makes your heart ache and a chilly wind. It was perfect for the job we had to do.

Lucy was very happy to get to take a car ride there and only trembled a little while on the table at the vet's. My son, Eli, helped me through it all and I don't think I could have done it without his help.

Lucy died with a sigh, relaxing into my arms and held tight against my chest. It was very quick and painless.

Lucy, on the left, and Jake, her constant companion, on her last day here with us.

I cried most of the day but finally got some sort of comic relief at the graveside, when we finally had the grave completed and covered with some pretty mountain rocks~then the sheep came to pay their respects. They marched in regal single file to stand at the grave. They bowed their heads and nibbled a little grass, Jake greeted each one, as if he were conducting the service.

We sat on a bench, my mother, my son and I, along with Jake and the sheep, and we spoke of Lucy's good heart and cried hot tears onto cold cheeks. The sheep drifted away and Jake whimpered and paced, back and forth.

Jake sits still and sad now....Jake, the constantly in motion, tornado dog that never sits still and always has a dance for us.

The puppies give us hope of new days and silly dog stories as they move into Lucy's place in the dog barn. They try to get Jake to play but he's in no mood for fun~ for the first time in his life.

I want to thank everyone for their love, prayers and thoughts on this day of days. I know its probably small in the whole world of hurts and problems, but the loss of a good friend is always a sad time....until we meet again in another and newer world.

Thank you all!

P.S. Sis, I am glad you are liking your little black bear as much as we are liking ours. I think she will make you a great dog! Maybe you should name her Riley...as in "having the life of"? I think Ruby suits her very well...Grandma would have loved that.

P.S.S. I wasn't really going to rent out The Mom! ;) I love her far too much to let her go traipsing around the country....without ME. :D

I think Jake will need some Mama time probably . You could comfort each other. :hugs
He will need to adjust some but the scared little girl pup might help him feel better. I have a feeling they will really bond.

I have to admit I chuckled a little when I read about the sheep. Bee, those puppies are cute to tenth degree. I agree, Jake will need some mama time and those new pups will prbably make him feel much better. Im sorry you had to lose your Lucy.
