We're good on that. Even the big town here has finally started allowing chickens in the borough. Here, it's a smidge different. This area has been allowed to have chickens for longer than the other town, but we're also on state prison grounds, which I'm not exactly sure what it's zoned as besides state property, lol. But, we've got horses and beef cattle beside us, and they used to have chickens, so they don't care too much about what we're doing here.

The heat here is absolutely miserable. I just don't handle it well at all. Been slugging down water all day, but the kids keep stealing my cups! They have about five or six cups SOMEWHERE! Irritates the crap out of me. Of course, THEIR cups are full of water, but I'm not drinking out of kid cups, lol. The bathroom is FINALLY ready to be painted. Washing ceilings is awful work. More like torture. I'm not a fan of washing anything, but having to have your arm in the air, wipe, rinse, repeat is just miserable. So, finally forced myself to finish it. I'm giving it a little time to dry before painting. I hope this stuff works as well as everyone says! I should get before/after pictures, though I didn't get one before I washed it, but it'll still be nice to compare, lol. I'm also back to getting baths and testing my products. I haven't done a nice candle-lit bath yet, as that still makes me a little nervous. It wasn't the candles, but still, the idea of fire around my head in that bathroom just makes me nervous now, lol. I finally finished up some soap orders, I've been procrastinating and haven't been getting a lot done around here lately. I have two more batches of soap to wrap, then all of those batches have to be labelled, but that shouldn't be too miserable. Have to go pick up some feed tomorrow as well. Was going to do it today, but they close a lot sooner than I had thought. We're also putting the AC in tonight when George gets home from prison. THAT will be awesome. Last night I couldn't sleep at all because of the suffocating heat. Other than that, I still have to get some more compost for the garden. We've been trying to top everything off to help control weeds and to help add to the nutrients. The soil is so much worse than we originally thought. It's all rocky from the old gravel driveway, plus the solid block of clay only a few inches down. The tomatoes seem to be doing alright though. I did also see some new buds on one of the banana pepper plants, and the bell peppers seem to have heard my complaints, because it seems like they grew a good bit overnight! I'm also still debating on the birds. Cornish x seem like a LOT of work to raise for meat when I can just raise a bunch of ducks, which seem to grow just as quickly, taste fifty times better and do so much better with free-ranging. I'm not super happy with the idea of Ameraucanas as my egg layers, as they aren't the best layers if I remember correctly, plus the eggs are only about medium. Even if 13/14 turn out to be pullets (the one I'm almost positive is a roo), I'm not sure that'll be enough eggs to support the family. Plus, those dumb birds aren't all that great with foraging. Even the tiny poults are doing so much better with foraging. Anyways, I really need to figure out what I'm doing, because I need to start putting birds on a diet if I'm keeping cornish x around. I plan to weigh everyone out, tag out the top ten birds, then when I go to feed, I'll either lock the tags in the room, or lock them out and everyone else in. Since I no longer plan to keep a rooster out of them, I'm not too worried about the roos being on a different diet.

Now, that cracked me up! :D

LOL! My favorite thing to say about his work... When random guys come up (generally when I'm fishing) and say "where's your husband or boyfriend at?" I LOVE saying "oh, well, he's in prison but he's getting out around five or so today". The last guy I dated works there as a CO as well... Mom introduced me to him and everything, so she said bring him down for her birthday at my brother's house. I tell my brother that I'm bringing some guy I just met from prison down to meet the family. Talk about a total blow up (my brother is the typical big brother, VERY protective of me), until I was done laughing and explained everything to him. :D Prison makes for some good jokes. :D

I've had some fun with people who've come to get birds and such too. The only thing that gets me is, there are TWO houses on this side of the prison. One's a big white one, one's a beige one. When I give directions, nobody seems to be able to find it... Two houses, BIG prison, nothing else around... kind of hard to miss!

The first coat of paint is finally done. It was so hot and miserable that I kicked the kids out, made them go play in the yard and stripped completely naked to paint. I didn't want to put my clothes back on!!! Our room finally has AC. It's a monstrosity of an AC, big enough to cool the entire upstairs, but I locked our door to keep it all in. I like it to be pretty cold... gives me a good excuse to snuggle all up with George, lol.

Another fun bit of info... I'm starting up with a UTI. Talk about a fun week... The heat, insomnia and now a UTI. Taking penicillin and I was craving cranberry juice yesterday, so I've been slugging that down a good bit. I'm going to be sticking with coffee, tea and cranberry juice until this gets better. Anything acidic should help. Cranberry is obviously like number one, but the tannic acid in the tea/coffee helps too, plus coffee gives me a buzz when I'm not in a depressed state, and I LIKE getting a buzz and getting all kinds of stuff done.

Heh that is pretty funny. Course I don't quite get the shock value, but when I tell people I live in a park I get strange looks too :p

My Dr's nurse (who seems to get my preference for homeopathic a whole lot more than Doc does  ) told me to take Vit. C at the first sign of a UTI, along with my other stuff. Worked great!

Hmmm...painting naked. Couldn't do it. First, if I caught sight of myself in a mirror :sick Second, I don't want to have to explain to DH how I got paint on weird places

DUH!! Now that's a dunce moment for me. I KNOW that ascorbic acid (Vit C) is awesome for UTI's. Not sure why it didn't click, lol. I've done so much research on UTI's specifically because of the cats, and here I am with a UTI and relying on my nursing education instead of combining that with my previous self-education. Thank you so much for mentioning it!! :D

As for painting naked, well, I don't get naked with lights on around George, so no biggy, lol. I'm just weird about people seeing me... Too many stretch marks and all that.
