Hi BBrooks, I wanted to tell you I got the fermented cod liver oil from Blue Ice. I got the cinnamon flavored liquid and believe it or not, my 13 year old and I have been taking it as is without any issues.

Thanks for turning me on to the stuff. :thumbsup

I think we have been using it for 4 days now and yesterday I was outside all day in the sun. I don't have a sunburn! Not sure if it is too early in the game to not get burned, but I didn't. :D

Tell me about that tap...is it homemade? I was just given a bunch of surgical tubing! Next year, baby, next year I will be ready for my sugar maples!
I used a rubber wine cork, drilled a hole in it, and stuck the tubbing all the way through.
I made 4, and two of them re not fitting tight, so they will be replaced with the copper tubing spiles that DH is making right now.

I would rec. getting plumbers nipples instead, if you want an easy spile that will work with tubing.
Can you post pics of your dh's copper tubing spiles, too? I am always interested in homemade.

I thought that was a rubber stopper!

I can get maple taps on CL fairly easily (this is New England, after all, land of maple syrup!), but to me most of the fun is doing as many steps myself as I can, and spending as little cash as possible, utilizing what I have or what I find. Some things just need to be purchased, though. Someone else from Alaska, I think, posted pics of taps made with bits of wood from branches or saplings. I really liked those. I actually cut some elder and birch branches this spring to try to make taps, but our weather was too funky and I didn't get them made before the buds on my trees popped, extra-extra early.
