Amazing! You make me want a cow. (DH says no dairy animals - too much work)
Honestly they are. Rina is dumb too. She stood out in the snow yesterday (we got 2 feet) and wouldn’t move until I came into the pasture to herd her into the barn 🤣🤣.

AI is expensive, sexed AI even more so. It’s certainly not for everyone. But they are the money makers around here!

Had to pick up, wash, and package my neighbor’s duck eggs today. I know it’s part of our deal but geez I hate doing it. 🤮

They keep these ducks in a big dog pen with a dog house in the corner. But the dog house isn’t insulated. So sometimes the eggs crack when they freeze. Then they become dog duck eggs. 😭 today we had 7 dog duck eggs, 12 people duck eggs.

When I was pregnant it was the WORST. I understand ducks are smelly, but he only cleans it out once a month and my hormones just couldn’t handle it.

It’s totally worth it to me though. I get $10 a dozen plus free food for my dogs without having to feed, water, or care for the ducks all because he’s allergic to the eggs and his daughter loves the duckies. It is a scavenger hunt for those eggs everyday though LOL! Ducks are goofy.

I had bought a cheese kit from Sarah once when I went to the dairy to get milk, I bought 2 gal of whole milk, and made cheese, I felt like I didn't get muck cheese and poured off a lot of the milk, I haven't tried it since, maybe the milk didn't have enough cream?

You do pour off a LOT of whey. One pound of cheese is roughly equal to one pound.

Edit: one pound of cheese is roughly equal to one gallon of whole milk. Mama brain!
