BBH--Did you used to live here, too? Or, how did you score a Badger's sweatshirt? I'm tucked into my red and white hoodie, too, but this one is printed with our small-town elementary school's graphics :)
I was born in Racine. My whole family except the last two born to my mom and dad (me and my youngest, older sis) went to UW and we have Bucky the Badger stuff everywhere!

Shortly after I turned 5 we moved to TX, so I got the TX accent and my two oldest siblings still speak like Wisconsiners. It is weird at family gatherings, but fun.

All I remember as a grocery store was the Piggly Wiggly! I never heard of the Mills Fleet Farms even though I visit my family up there often. I will have to take a better look next time.

LOL

I found a whole bunch of Badger's mug at my local Goodwill. Bought em all :D

. I think conventional farmers have heard for so long, "Yeah, that's nice, but you can't feed the world that way." that they actually believe themselves.
This must play a big part. That and all the info the farmers got over the years from chemical companies, extension agents, etc... They didn't have the internet. Just big agri brain washing.

My only problem with Pollan is his "mostly plants" stance. If you do the research (and I have), it should be "mostly fat and meat".
