What was wrong with 'em Buff?
I didnt get them flat enough, and got to much salt on them....but as they dried some they got better....
Yeah you have to roll them out pretty thin buddy. The self rising flour makes them rise just a smidge.

I made the kids make brownies...they're in the oven now :drool
The kids or the brownies? :D

Are y'all trying to teach me a lesson in patience? I think I could probably squeak a small batch of pancakes out of the baking supplies I have left...

So, this morning at about 1, dead asleep, there is a loud thumping and dragging noise on the roof. :ep Jolted us both awake!

We jump up, throw on our jackets and go running out to check it out.

Out of the north an unexpected wind has kicked up and it's blowing about 25 mph and is now ripping up the tar paper we just put up! :barnie

I grabbed four 8' 2x4's left over from the framing and a hammer and nails and we climbed up and got busy. We actually got pretty lucky. Only the first course had lifted and torn. So we tacked down the 2x4's at the overlaps to try and save as much as we could. It worked! Went out this morning, the wind is still blowing, but the paper is intact for the most part and we have enough left to repair it. Oh the joy of desert living! :/

Glad it wasn't you and J blowing away, although the tar paper situation is a major bummer! ;)

The last place we live in TN was down in a little "hole"...basically half way down a hill so the wind blew over top of our place and we rarely even noticed it.

We moved to AR in the fall of '09 and our land is up on a hill...boy, did we get some lessons on wind!

This is what 35 - 40 mph winds did to our soft-side shed that we forgot to secure with the augers:

We see similar situations every year out here. It's fine if we know it's coming. We have most everything ready to tie down when necessary. But this just came out of nowhere. It could have been much worse, we often get sustained winds of 45-55 mph with gusts to 70! Good thing you have all those trees to catch everything. Out here if you don't see where it lands, you may never see it again!
